You know how you get guys to stop playing east west? Add some north south guys into the lineup and onto their lines. We have a roster full of high skill but soft-ish players. Need to have a balance of both skill and physicality

Thats the hope for the offseason acquitions and it helps tighten up the team cohesiveness. We will see.

But thats the whole point, who cares that I dont like the "blender" option. Atleast go in with a plan knowing that historically the team hasnt faired well against them. Youve gotta say "ok, hold up, lets regroup", lets give them a different look and see what happens. You dont just leave things as is go into intermission and give the same old tiring speech. "Ok boys, lets play more north south, lets beat them to the corners and dirty areas". Blow that game and then run the same lineup out with plug and play guys cause of injuries and give the same speech AGAIN! If you pull up Quinn's sleeves, hes got nothing under them.

Yea but wouldn't "giving them a different look" be "playing more north/south?" I think what you're trying to accomplish by mixing up the lines is what he's preaching. So yes, maybe you are right and changing the lines would have accomplished that, but if you don't have the personnel to play that way, or the players choose not to, then at a certain point you can only blame the coach so much. And I agree he deserves some blame

Bottom line is we’re expecting a team to play north south when they’re a bunch of east west players. We need to trade some of our talent for talented but more physical players.

We might not have the personnel to do it exactly like he wants but if the east-west is whats bothering him then stick Panarin, Zib and Strome on a line together and let them jerk each other off.

Blackwell has been getting 2nd line minutes anyway, so let him be 2C between LAF and Buch, etc…

Panarin, Zib, Strome
LAF, Blackwell, Buch
Kreider, Rooney, Kakko
Chytil, Barron, Krav

The 4th line may come with lots of complaints but if were in a game of grinding and possession, that line should definitely play but in a limited capacity when the ice tilts in the forechecking side. Who knows the experiment could yield an unexpected chemistry.

Gotta make the most of it.

Lets make sure we micro manage every move and decision tonight so we have things to complain about in the future.

I agree with some of the stuff you're saying but in this thread alone you've posted about 3 or 4 different sets of lines that you want to see so I get the impression that regardless of what Quinn does you won't be happy with him. You can dislike Quinn and want him gone and we can just agree to disagree on that. I think we've had a good discussion today and you've made some good points that I definitely agree with.

Ya for those stretches early in the season when we couldn’t buy a goal and had Jack Johnson out there. But your right, who needs a 60 pt dman instead of Jack Johnson. Definitely wouldn’t have made a difference 🤦‍♂️

Im stubborn but Im not static, I can and will listen to other points of view. Im also on record as saying that Im all for Quinn getting a normal, full year. However, with some quality coaching available in the offseason its like ugh, Id love to have Gallant or Brind’Amour here after the way they wheeled in success out the gate.

I am a big, long time fan of Sam Rosen. However, 13 minutes into the game tonite Joe mentions that LaFreniere has shaved his lumberjack beard and looks 12 years old again. Sam laughs and says he hadn't noticed. WHAT?
