Todd Bertuzzi should appeal his suspension based upon this ruling |

"policing" wouldnt be necessary if the ramifications of this behavior were worse than a fine of 0.10% of his AAV and no suspension - picklerick
Wilson made more money serving his penalty than the fine the DOP dished out. Is that not a broken system or what? |

And who on the squad yesterday was doing that? Buchnevich? Zib? Kakko? Laf? Chytil? Kravtsov? Smith? Fox? If one of the three who were out were in the lineup and did nothing, then make that argument. - airjan23
The issue is that once he got out of the box he went the entire game, aside from a push from blackwell, completely untouched.
I get that we don't have a physical team with the guys that were out and maybe it wouldn't have been smart for someone to fight him, but how could they not hit him every chance they got? I would've liked a stick through the teeth but understand that's probably not the best option.
There was one situation where Wilson had the puck on the half-wall in the defensive zone in a somewhat vulnerable situation and Barron peeled off from him. Barron, while a rookie, is big enough to plaster him into the boards there and send a message and he didn't, and nobody else did either.
There's a middle ground between trying to fight one of the toughest SOBs in the league and letting the team MVP know that they won't stand for him getting tossed around like that. |

I can see the NHL reaching out to Gorton telling him to keep it clean on Wednesday.
Someone take out Kuznetsov, Oshie or Backstrom, let Wilson see red and get himself suspended for the next season after losing an eye. |

Maybe they were taking the high road for player safety to do their job. Since that clearly doesn't work - it should be open season every chance anyone gets. Opening faceoff they should skate 3 players straight into the goalie. I wouldn't even put ours on the ice. Run as many as you can before the team all gets thrown.

Taking the high road would have been not cheapshotting their top guys or Wilson himself. Not even upping the level of physicality after that is pussing out. After this ruling I fully support bringing in whoever we can and having a good old fashion blood bath |

It's funny the difference in sports, a phillies pitcher talks trash in a baseball game and gets tossed and suspended for a game for inciting the incident
I dude in the NHL in incites a needless scrum with a bullpoop sucker punch, proceeds to ragdoll an unwilling combatant, who also happens to be a superstar, just because his brain is not fully developed and he can't control his emotions and gets a 5K fine.

Yeah, no argument there. They just aren't built for that. I'm hoping there is still something to come from the Panarin incident since the $5k was labeled for Buch. Not likely though.

My main issue is that history and pattern are to be factors in a ruling, were ignored here. |

100% agree. These aren't bannable offenses by themselves, but there is clearly a history with this player that goes above the norm. He's a more dangerous version of Matt Cooke imo. It would be nice to see one of those 20+ game bans you'd have seen in the '90's get thrown here. To send a message they should be assessing the organization and coach fines also at this point. |

I'd just like to stir the pot a little more: YOU CAN'T EVEN PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD IN THE UFC. IT'S BANNED IN A COMBAT SPORT BUT ONLY A $5k FINE IN THE NHL |
