If Stanley is in the press box next game I’m done with the Jets this season. He played like he hates losing....couple nice shots, good passing again, some big hits. Should be dressed every game a d he’s creeping up on Forbort IMO - jjonah
If Stanley had remained in the lineup instead of missing the majority of the last 1/2 dozen games he would not have made the mistake he made clearing the zone and then screening Brossoit.
These draft and develop players need to play.
Like I said in a recent post the remaining games don’t matter.
Doesn’t matter who this team plays in the first round it will be a quick exit.
I really hope I am wrong. |

It wasn't really a mistake even, just an unfortunate bounce when he went to clear it out.
If anything the forwards should be blamed for that Zaitsev goal, they were all way out of position. |

It was Copp's mistake. He took the puck away from Broisseut preventing the freeze. He then failed on the clearing attempt turning it over. |

I've been saying since about game 10 of the season that the Jets "cycle/ puck possession" system in the O-zone has not adapted to the current version of what is being used by many teams in the NHL . Many of the team such as the Oilers and Leafs are doing a cycle on the half boards and up high in the O-zone as opposed to the Jets down low cycle. This leads to longer possession time and more opportunity to get shots on the net and then crash the net for rebounds. It is also much harder to defend, especially with a man-on-man type system the Jets use.
If we look at an example of the Oilers you will see Draisaitl almost always using the half boards and down to the corner as his office. From there he has more seams to pass into as well as an easier transition back to the blueline. Also having the cycle higher in the zone makes it easier to get back on the loss of possession. When McDavid is on the ice he plays like a pike in the weeds where he circles up high in the zone and then uses his speed to suddenly strike when he anticipates a pass from one of the D or from the half wall. They are often pre-set plays. ( Matthews and Marner play a similar style to McDavid and Draisaitl)
The only one who really plays a similar type of game on the Jets is Ehlers. Scheif and Wheeler set up low in the O-zone, so does the Lowry line. Connor tends to cycle from the corner up to the mid-half wall. It's harder to find the seam passes or get back quickly to prevent 3 on 2's and 2 on 1's from there.
The game is changing and Maurice needs to adapt very quickly because the book is out on defending his system. It also demonstrates how much better the Jets are with Ehlers in the lineup because he is really the only one who plays the high cycle and his results show it works.
The only other major flaw with the Jets is the glaringly obvious one. Lack of a highly accurate and hard shooting defenseman like Tyson Barrie. I'd say Barrie has added at least 10 more wins to the Oilers this season. He also makes McDavid and Draisaitl much better players. Hopefully, Heinola will be that guy . Morrisey and Pionk just don't have that accurate a shot. It's most often high and wide leading to wasted opportunities.
Just my two cents after seven losses in a row. |

These are two points that many of us were making in the off-season. Welcome to the light Jetsnation!

The funny thing about Barrie is that until this season, he was one of the least effective shooters in the NHL for a good long while. Guy loves 1% shots from the blueline. |

This is true. I really liked Barrie for the fact that he could have been had for cheap and had proven himself to be a great power play quarterback, especially in Colorado. |

I expect big changes for the Wednesday's game against Calgary. Expect Maurice to take Stanley out to be replaced by Benn and Vesalainen to be replaced by Harkins. |

😂... Sadly your prediction will likely be right and that's all that'll change, really though it's just rearanging deck chairs on the Titanic, this team isn't good enough and this coaching staff is beyond done, let's just hope Chevy hasn't booked too many summer holidays yet!!! |

Looking for these faces on milk cartons:

Isn’t the first course of action after 7 losses in a row that the GM makes a significant move such as firing the coach? |

If you’re gonna play that game, it should include:
Schiefele
Wheeler
Poolman
Lesser degree:
Copp
Appleton
Hellebuyck
Morrisey (he’s looked pretty good last game with Pionk)

I don’t think it’s fair to include Thompson here. He’s playing at his peak ability. He’s just not an NHL player |

While it is better to slide now than in the first round the slide they are in is significant enough to cost Maurice his job. Either the process to success - that he trusts and preaches - needs to mature to results now or the Jets should finish the season with one of their in house options. Pascal Vincent, Dave Lowry, Jamie Kompon. Few others can clear covid protocols quickly enough.
The progression of the teams results from 2014 to 2019 bought Maurice some tenure but 2019-20 was a step back - defensive turnover a big part of that. 2020-21 shouldn't be where we are now and any tenure Maurice has is at the limit.
On a few occassions it has been said that the only way (name your coach) keeps his job is if he wins the cup. Its not quite at that point in Winnipeg but if Jets dont make some noise in the playoffs then lets be sure to part ways in the offseason and save the organization the wrath of fans when we can gather again. Better yet - just make some needed adjustments and win some games now. |

Not defending Maurice as I never bought into what he was selling or the systems he runs but this defense is essentially exactly the same as it was in 19-20. |

Here's the Jets biggest problem of why that is.
Wheeler 8.25 M
Stastny 6.5
Perreault 4.12
That's nearly 25% of your cap space for past their prime players. |

That's all of Chevy's making, again doesn't have anything to do with Maurice.

Where did I say that was Maurice's fault?
Though the Jets spent a bunch of money on defense from 2015-19 and got out of the first round once.

It’s funny that after our “hot start”, many fans were clamouring to bring back Stastny and Perreault. There was even talk by some to bring back Lewis. Don’t get me wrong I like Stastny, however he’s not the same player he was 2 years ago. He’s being played way above what he should be at this point in his career.
The case is the same for Wheeler. |

I think its safe to say that the players have begun tuning out Maurice. I guess they must be tired of his stubbornness when it comes to choosing condiments for his hot dogs. |

I was close. Benn isn't going in for Stanley. It's nice to Heinola getting a chance on the third pairing with Demelo. |

You didn't but in my reply to 2.0 I was just pointing out that the defense isn't much different from last year, my point was that if we're going to acknowledge/cut Maurice some slack that in
19-20 that the defense group was bad then we kind of have to this season as well cause it isn't much different. |
