Can we get joe Mullen back. Honestly think firing him was Hex’s worst move
- GPerogie

There is something to be said for this. Joe Mullen was assistant coach from 2007-2017 and 9 out of the 10 seasons (I skipped 2007 because it was his first year) the Flyers had an above average PP compared to the league average. Its been below average 2 out of the past 3 seasons since. I think coaching is important, but I still feel talent is more important when it comes to the PP.

Ghost buyout

You don't think the Flyers can get something for Ghost? If I am covering any salary, its to move Jake.

Seriously though, he isnt going to be trying to trade anyone before he sees if they get selected in the expansion draft.

And if one of Jake or JVR are selected then he has that cap money to play with. If Ghost is selected same thing.....

- MBFlyerfan

I think JVR has the best chance to be selected. He is a veteran who had a good season this year, and only has 2 years left on his current contract. It would make the most sense to have at least some veterans with a generally young team. I think with Jake we can move him but we will have to eat money to do so. With Ghost I think we can move him as is, but possibly have to take some salary back or augment with a good prospect.

2.5-3 mil is my guess. AND perhaps a pick/prospect. Which begs the question: is it worth it? That freed up 5-6 million is not going to be enough to get a star player.

He is retired, and has no interest in unretiring.

That is worth more than a price tag, at the moment at least.

Edit: did not mean to reply to myself.

Well, they did sell the Sixers, so maybe it's not that much of a reach to think that they would consider it if the right deal presented itself.

What's the over/under on Voracek?

I'd take money back on Ghost, even going slightly to the negative cap wise, as long as it's no longer than the 2 years he has remaining. I would also keep Ghost as a 3rd pair/ PP guy depending on what other moves are made to reshape the D corps.

I think they spent the last year trying to move Ghost. It isn’t happening. He’ll, they even waived him and there we’re no takers.

I think sandstrom may turn it around before long
He was shaky early on but use jusi soros as an example. He looked like a career back up and then this season he has absolutely dominated since taking the staring spot

Goalies are so finicky and both sandstrom and hart are young guys
There is absolutely no reason why both players can't put it together and play as a solid pair in goal.

I see way to many people giving up on hart 😂😂
Hart will be just fine. I have absolutely zero worries about him.
The league figured out that his glove hand was weak. He's been in the league long enough to have tape and video on him. He will work his butt off to correct that while sandstrom figures out the smaller rinks here

Don't give up, guys! Goalie spot is still bright as far as I see it.
With that said I'd like to have a solid backup goalie that can run with it for 5 or 6 games if necessary

Probably some 4th line duster or Ghost

75/25 Voracek stays/leaves.

You are correct.

But they cannot have no pro-sport-team tenant.

I believe they own the building too.

And the Sixers will probably move to University City or the waterfront

Not happening! Good players make coaches look like geniuses, not so good players make coaches look dumb. Can you honestly say the Flyers have good players that can execute on the PP and PK? AV has already blamed the young players for the reason the PK stinks this year. And regarding the PP go look back over the past several years and see how the Flyers PP has compared to the rest of the league, its been below average most years. In this league, a good PP is directly related to the talent on the ice, and I don't feel these Flyers have enough talent to have an above average PP in this league.
- jd250

Yes. I do think we have good players where we should have a much special teams. Giroux, Voracek, JvR and Ghost have always specialized offensive ability on the PP. I don’t know why you feel this way.

Morin sucks. He can’t do anything with the puck other than pass it to his partner or pass it up the boards. He’s a perfect player for the phantoms long term. He doesn’t have a minimal ability to move the puck in this league, like a braun can.

Yeah, Justin Braun is so awesome.

Moving two high paid players and taking salary back for multiple seasons for both doesn’t make sense. You might as well keep them.

Guys...

This is the third time I’ve read this.

Teams, especially good teams aren’t going to or can’t just simply suck up a 4.5 million dollar deal mid season with multiple seasons on it, just because they can get it for free. Not many teams want to add salary at all. Ghost is an offseason move if he moves at all.

Bill, You're getting GMey in a couple of your replies so I have that level of temerity to ask, how upset is the Management crew about this season?
Are they radicalized or content to see out the next season?
Where do they see the problems?
What rationalizations are they bandying amongst themselves?
Do they think that player development is proceeding according to ANY plan?
Are they of a single mindset?

Myself, being an absolute amateur with fifty+ years of reading and watching, am completely thrown by this season, have this reaction.
This current team has a malaise that needs to be rooted out because Mudville is a terrible place to take up residence. I have a hard time seeing reasons to remain a fan.
They do not represent anything close to a cohesive group which was the bellwether of much of the decades' teams even when the infighting was rough.
I like vengeance movies. I am very uncertain about who the enemy is here, but identification of culprits would engender some hope of POSITIVE changes.
Then, as any formula flick starring an impossible hero, we have the names and now we can start kicking butts (away from my precious, nearly innocent team).

I can live with Morin not being apart of this team moving forward but what is AV getting out of any of the young guys? AV’a decision making especially with Morin all season long has been some of the worst coaching and worst judgement I’ve ever seen.
- SuperSchennBros

Why I said 10 days ago sit Braun, nothing against him just let the younger guys get some reps in. What are they doing raising Braun's trade value?
