Again, I completely agree.

But, foligno isnt choosing buffalo on a 1 year deal.

He's gonna have plenty of opportunities.

Still would offer him a 3 year deal.
Although, anything more could become another mistake.

Ridiculous that we have to overpay guys to join our terrible franchise.

Signing him at all would be a mistake.

He doesn't do the things his reputation says he does.

Crazy how things change quick when we're winning.

Wny is a prime spot for older family type nhl players.
Proximity to canada , schools, cost of living ect.

Things will turn around as soon as they remove skimmer and his league worst contract.
I would consider packaging okposo and skimmer with our 1st to Seattle for a couple mid range prospects and cap relief

- Boss34

It would take more than that and you'll likely get nothing but the cap space back.

It cost the Leafs a first and a 7th to get rid of Marleau's $6 million per.

We should be resigned to the fact that he's here until the summer of 23. The BO saves at least 6M+ in all but 2 years.

2023-24 $1,666,667
2024-25 $1,666,667
2025-26 $4,666,667
2026-27 $6,666,667
2027-28 $2,666,667
2028-29 $2,666,667
2029-30 $2,666,667
2030-31 $2,666,667

Evander Kane's bankruptcy case is pretty bizarre.

I hope they extend Viking55. I think the team knows he should be Captain. I do too.

I mean, yeah, we've already gone through a decade's worth of hockey's version of the seventh circle of hell. What's another few years?

Respectfully, he does bring veteran leadership (955 gp)
Averages .5 ppg
Definitely tough still
Size and toughness

Yes. He's older but that's part of being a veteran.

They're based on hundreds of previous deals using the percentage against the cap when they were signed compared with the $81.5M cap for next season.
- kingcong39

Fair enough. I just wonder if they are factoring in Covid discounts here or not. Hints that other teams may start imposing internal caps, if that's the case could skew things. But nice to have that resource, appreciate you posting them, just flashed on it.

I like reider and think he's a great 4th liner for the team.

Other than that, I'm off a bit on hyman compared to eh although i think almost 7m is way too high. Savard at less than 2m seems very low.

How do you factor in hints or whispers? You don't artificially drop each deal by say 10% as that's guess work.

Wasn't the same said last offseason about many teams having a much lower internal cap, and yet all but 4 teams are projected to have more than $2M in cap space?

Him waiving means they can protect another player they'd otherwise risk being taken by Seattle. It doesn't necessarily mean they're going to pay extra to entice Seattle to take him.

Nick Foligno shouldn't be making much more than 1.5-2.5 million. He should be happy if he gets 3x3.
