Well John Scott put it perfectly earlier, it's open season now, NHL really screwed the pooch with Wilson, it won't just affect what's happening in the Rangers game

Remember when Gaustad fought Lucic.
That really put this Sabres team over the top.

- ImThatGuy

They should have responded immediately in that game.

However, you don't like the response in the next game from the Goose?

It did nothing.

In that same game, Thomas Vanek absolutely destroyed Brad Marchand with a clean check. You know what Marchand did on the very same shift? Got up and scored the game tying goal, and the Sabres ended up losing. That's the type of "toughness" I want this team to have.

Nah, punch people in the face. “It’s what the league is” or so I’m told.

What gets me is how the Ottawa fight in 2007. is celebrated, even by the team's social media. After that happened, the Sabres went 1-5 against the Senators including the playoffs. The fight did nothing. It's a myth to make old school hockey types feel good about themselves, nothing more.

So had the Sabres gone 5-1 against the Sens it would have been OK?

No it didn’t.

It did nothing. It was actually the start of the Sabres downfall.

Miller was traded 3 years later so was Gaustad I think less than a year later
Pretty much all of those guys in that team were traded.

So much for team bonding.

If the Sabres went 5-1, the argument that fighting as a response has any effect where it matters, the win column, might not be as ridiculously laughable as it is in reality.

Sure, the Sabres haven't made the playoffs in a decade because Lucic ran Miller, and not because of inept owners and management.

OK.

It was owner and management who wanted to build a big bad team after that happened.

The most unfortunate news of the evening so far...

Hearing that after talks w/Turner & ESPN, Eddie Olczyk has agreed to a 5-year deal to become Turner’s lead NHL analyst starting next season.
Word is Olczyk will still have freedom to cover horse racing for NBC.
Also hearing Ray Ferraro is in line to become ESPN's lead analyst.

My GF hasn't watched an NHL game in years.

She just finished Drive to Survive and now wants to watch the race in Barcelona on Sunday. The NHL is awful at being a league

The best thing F1 did was sell to an American company.

Well when we have that we can talk about that, still shouldn't turn your back when a teammate takes a cheap shot. Teams still take advantage when they know your soft, especially when nobody else has there back, "NHL".

It's celebrated because it's the last time they were a real team. And even aside from the brawls it was one of the best regular season games with nothing on the line.

Just like we reminisce about 2 playoff games 14 and 15 years ago yesterday and today.

Nah.

The Sabres should have come out and played patty cake with Alfredsson and Heatley.

Screw Chris Drury.

There’s a few, it depends on how much stock you take into them

GAR (goals above replacement) and WAR (wins above replacement)

So do you think Draisaitl was the best despite being a -7? I know you’re a big +/- guy. You’ve mentioned it a ton to critique Dahlin.

How could a -7 player be better than Panarin who was a +36 with 95 points 🤔

- sbroads24

-7 is not good
-35 is really not good

Maybe panarin was better last year?

Points are generally related to pay scale. Especially arbitration meetings. Clearly players have intangibles, but points are generally a decent way to judge talent.
