He’s refusing to answer that

Skinner is the reason Carolina never made the playoffs apparently

I assume he thinks Eichel is the reason we haven’t

- sbroads24

He's not THE reason, but he didn't help.

I dunno. I'm just glad I don't have to try and figure him out.

- BINGO!

Yeah. He should’ve done more the years he scored 37, 33 and 31 goals for a lot less than 9 mil.

Odd take

Blaming either is wrong IMO.

The Canes broke the drought because they finally got some saves and then they’re young D men (Slavin, Pesce) became stars

Edit- hang on let me check the bold’s point totals before I claim they are good

- sbroads24

And they went out and acquired Dougie Hamilton for a couple underperforming guys.

And Nino Niederreiter for Victor Rask.

And got lucky and moved up for Svechnikov.

The team stunk for sure. He put up goals, but he was expected to be a bigger contributor all over the ice and he just... didn't?

Again, before he was traded, guys in the organization talked about him and how he just refused to fully buy in. How there always had to be a different set of rules for Jeff vs the rest of the team.

It was a problem, because here you have a guy who was a star rookie, who was told he was going to be the face of the franchise (and was in a lot of ways) that never got held accountable and never had to play in a system. He didn't respond to being benched. If you dumped him on a lower line he just stopped trying.

And the rest of the team sat and watched it and it affected them too, because that guy was supposed to be the next star. He was supposed to be a leader on the team, and he just wasn't.

Singletary & Moss are both decent pass catchers

I’d be ok if we brought him,
just don’t think it’s a big need
We don’t throw much to our RBs anyways

I think what really bums me out is how much better the Samson line looked with a play-driving winger (Bjork). Skinner is a guy who picks up lost change in the slot.
- Slump Buster

So it’s finding the right combination of players to maximize what skinner brings to the table?

While it’s a possibility, I don’t think that’s likely.

Carolina was a very good team that didn’t get saves the last two years before Skinner was dealt. They were better than most teams they played

All I've got to go on is what the people around the team were saying. It's why Jeff was traded. They thought it was important to move on from a team culture standpoint more than anything.

That’s different then saying he’s a detriment to the team, which is what you implied.

He was incredibly productive and one of the best 5v5 scorers in hockey in Carolina.

I severely doubt his attitude effected much for anyone on the ice at his production wsmas surely a plus

A poor attitude can be a detriment to the team, especially when it causes a player to not contribute at all on the defensive side of the puck.
