I'm not disputing any of those things.
I'm saying that I'm completely unshocked that Wilson was able to body slam a man who weighs 50lbs less than him so easily.
I appreciate Panarin's bravery - and commend him for it - but the obviousness of the result was obvious.
Wilson is one of those players who is skilled, mean, and sometimes goes into a blood-rage. He's just another in a long line of guys who play well past the edge -- and has been rewarded for it.
Calls for "life time" bans (as Ek has proposed) are (frank)ing absurd,
Having said that, he should miss the rest of the season and the playoffs. Depending if the Caps get ousted in the 1st round, maybe he misses a few games to start the next season. - mjones242
That’s good to hear because to be honest I was confused by your laughing emoji and clutching their pearls response to the it was just a tap comment by our resident rascist

I haven't seen a complete disrespect and intent to injure since Raffi Torres on Hossa.
And the fact he did it to two separate players on the same play? This is very serious. He could have ended Panarins career.
Concussions are very serious. You dont slam a mans head into the ice and you dont cross check someones neck when they are down.
He will get the hammer here. It will be the longest suspension in league history which was 30 games. - Santo_44
There are a couple of reasons I can see the hammer coming down:
1. He has previously received a 20 game suspension for an infraction (it was reduced, but still)
2. It was an ugly melee and the league may want to go big on this as it's so close to the playoffs starting.
Frankly, the scrumming in front of nets after a whistle blows is beyond ridiculous. You get offensive players ridiculously trying to jam the puck loose after the goalie has covered the puck and then you have defensive players over-reacting on some plays where a player is anywhere near the goalie and hasn't participated in said jamming.
The league needs to start considering calling penalties to ANY player who remains in front of the net after a whistle. Any intentional physical contact between players after a whistle should be given an immediate unsportsmanlike conduct call.
Allowing players to Richard around in front of the goal after the whistle results in tempers flaring and stupid shenanigans. Wilson's behaviour going well over-the-top here.

The scumming is not fun but we are talking MAYBE. minor penalty here....it does not warrant a viscous attack for it. We see guys protecting their goalies every game. Chara could slam a players head to the ice every shift but he doesn't.
I see a hot head who can't control his actions during a heated moment.

I'm still laughing at the pearl clutching and over-wrought reactions here. You are allowed to be confused by me wanting Wilson to be suspended but also thinking that some of the responses from peeps here are pearl clutching.

I mean if he was a 4th line goon he'd probably never see another game.

Don't get me wrong, I think Tom Wilson deserves a suspension for the shots to Buchnevich's head while he was on the ice but the reactions here have been so incredibly precious it makes me laugh. "Look how aghast I am at that mongrel", he exclaimed while clutching his pearls tightly.
Panarin learned why there are weight classes in the UFC. He gave up 50lbs and about 5 inches. - mjones242
Exactly. This crew couldn't watch any hockey pre-2000... Especially old games from the 80s & 70s...

I'll be the first to admit that I haven't consistently taken the flu shot over the years. I may start now as a result of this pandemic.
Having said that, I don't believe people should be forced/coerced to take one. I just hope that enough people do take it and it has some affect on the propagation of this (and other) viruses. - mjones242
Oh I'm going to get the covid shot(if they ever call) but no flu shot for me just yet.

I wouldn't be adverse to it. The league talks about not wanting to get rid of fighting, but they are getting rid of fighting. If they continue to pay lip service to these problems, the league's direction could take a turn backwards towards the inclusion of enforcers again. Frankly, with Parros running the DOPS, I'm not encouraged at all that the right message will be sent.
I've been thoroughly unimpressed with the job he and his team have been doing.
