so they need to stay consistent with the bad decisions they've already made? it's one way to look at it I guess...
- Pat1993

Well it's a good principle.

This being said, the fact they've made bad decisions in the past should not prevent them from making better decisions in the future.

They would simply need to explain why they've changed their ways... which is done more easily in between seasons than during one.

Well, it kinda does.

Again, in my own opinion.

You got a guy with a history (star player or not), throwing elbows what 3 times in that game and he gets a $5000 fine.

A shot to the head, is a shot to the head.

They've set the precedent.

- pete26

I'm not defending McDavid, I'm saying I get that there is a double standard for star players and I accept it. Tom Wilson isn't a star player.

Teams stopped dressing goons because the league started to move towards policing this stuff, specifically in regards to star players. If they aren't going to protect stars, teams will start dressing a designated goon again and the league moves backwards and likely gets into worse jeopardy in regards to concussions and public sentiment. As a businessman this doesn't make much sense to me and precedent or not it's not like the league follows them anyway so we shouldn't pretend there is either a) a real standard or b) that there isn't a double standard when it comes to stars. It's like saying in football that Andy Dalton is going to get the same calls as Tom Brady. He isn't, everybody knows why and it's just accepted. And that league does business the NHL could never dream of

speaking of change, was Parros appointed for a specific period of time, or can he stay there until the cows come home?

I'm guessing he'll stay until he wants to leave or is removed from the position by the NHL?

I don't think it was a contract with term but what do I know?

What about John Dalton? What kind of calls does he get?

yeah it seems he's there indefinitely... I'd be curious to know the results if they did a survey among the players across the league concerning player safety, their opinion should matter

Assuming that's Roadhouse wasn't he replaced by Ronda Rousey? If it's dirty dancing, Baby would get all the calls. If it's Ghost I'm not making that joke

He's better at centre, no doubt about it.

But just like Suzuki earlier in the season, kid looks a little lost and tired right now.

We need him to be better.

Then it seems Ronda Rousey got the call. Then she got knocked out twice in a row and left mma and I think they cancelled the reboot once they realized she was quite destructible

Nonsense. He had a good start, than dropped, then had a good stretch dropped again.

And mind you, he's not the only guy on the team lacking consistency.

It takes him about 2 seconds to get his away.
Caulfield on the other hand has a terrific release and is the real deal

When DD took over and KK had regular line mates, he was playing well.

Now he is all over the lineup, center, wing, and different players every (frank)ing game.

This Staal trade is looking worse and worse by the minute... we could have used that cap space to manage the roster better.
