If? - Takemedrunkimhome
Lucic was a hothead. he lost his cool very easily and would mentally short circuit. and if you chose to fight him he would dismantle your. or in the case of Mike Komisarek, surgically remove your testicles and hang them around his neck. but he wasn't like Tom Wilson.

From what I saw, a couple of punches thrown with some gloves on.
Man this game is getting soft..

Suckering a downed man while on the ice is jusr about the purest female dog move out there. Nothing says I'm a tough guy like suckering a guy who is literally pinned face down on the ice.
The scrum and glove punches are one thing. The body slamming over and over is crazy levels of dangerous as the head hitting the ice is the most dangerous aspect of most fights, regardless of the fact it's a star player. On one hand DoPS needs to do better in general, on the other teams need to build a roster that can defend itself or suffer the consequences. Last nights interviews the Rangers all looked like whiny kids crying to a teacher who clearly didn't give the slightest of (frank)s |

Not being like Tom Wilson isn't a strong defense against that person being a psychopath. Just because you're not Jeffrey Dalhmer doesn't mean the smaller number of people you ate was sane and acceptable |

5 K fine for Wilson ridiculous - Karine Hains
The NHL is basically saying they condone this type of behaviour, but will fine the guy a pitiful amount of money compared to his contract, so that it looks like they might have an issue about it (when they don't) to mollify those that think this just does not belong in the game.
This "punishment" is an embarrassment for sports, let alone the NHL. |

No idea on their AHL roster but I'd assume they have an AHL plug they can send out to do whatever, stick or fists or both, and the Rangers players would then pitch in to pay fines or lost salary. Truth is I don't know their roster depth too well - Takemedrunkimhome
Not too familiar with the Wolf Pack, but Mason Geertsen seems like the only guy they have fitting something like that mould. He's about 25lbs lighter though. |

I'm not condoning what he did, just saying it wasn't that bad, imo.
If wilson really wanted to hurt that guy he could've.
Speaking of star players, much worse in my opinion, is Elbows McDavid, and another star player that's out with a concussion, did that guy even get a penalty that hit Price, let alone a fine?? |

Two wrongs don't make a right so the comparison to McDavid doesn't apply here, separate and isolated incidents. That said as a business man I'm not surprised they don't suspend McDavid but I'm somewhat shocked they don't protect Panarin, double standard or not.
I didn't think the elbow on Price was that bad, he literally apologized and answered the bell next game. Just because it's Price doesn't change how I view that one and Carey doesn't qualify for superstar rulings in my eyes anymore.
Either way it seems nobody knows anymore what constitutes what when it comes to acceptable behaviour and that in itself is problematic |

5000 $ fine is plain stupid, talking about life suspension too
I would have liked the NHL to pass a little message here, kinda rest of the season suspension. But they clearly established already they were a joke regarding this, you know maybe putting an ex goon in charge of the discipline reviews is not the brightess thing to do ! |

Well, it kinda does.
Again, in my own opinion.
You got a guy with a history (star player or not), throwing elbows what 3 times in that game and he gets a $5000 fine.
A shot to the head, is a shot to the head.
They've set the precedent.

so they need to stay consistent with the bad decisions they've already made? it's one way to look at it I guess...
