Leafs are happy to take Gibson of your hands, he's a top3-5 goalie in the NHL.

I have always stated that Gibson should be dealt. They could get a nice return and time their turnaround with Dostol.

The question will be - who needs a goalie in net and are they willing to pay the price. Has to be a contender

I could see Toronto if they walk away from Anderson

Edm for sure - Smith a good story but Gibson is worlds class. 50+ wins on a good team

Colorado IF they disappoint in the playoffs.

Maybe Carolina?

There won't be a good return. The GMs that are calling are just looking to fleece Bob Murry of a top 5 goalie. Gibson would be a great buy low player to get off the Ducks for any team. If Bob's smart he holds on till things turn around.
And who says Dostal is better that Gibson. Dostal has looked great in the SHL. But In the AHL has taken a step back facing better talent. He's still unproven. And his ceiling has yet to be determined.

They should've traded JG this yr.. but at the draft or over the summer works as well.

Imagine the Leafs or Canes with him. Both would be instant cup favorites. Even now with both teams mediocre goalies both are powerhouses. But I don't think either fan base is fully confident with who they have now to be able to win the cup with... even as well rounded both are everywhere else. Gibby provides the Ace in net both are looking for.

Add to that you get him for a great contract price for multiple runs and JG is the exception to the rule and would and should bring a monster return of picks and players. Along with the fact the Ducks are going to have a ton of cap space next yr. They could take back a crappy contract and really knock the trade out of the park.

GMs don't seem to think goalies are worth much. If it's not a big haul, why would BM get rid of Gibby? I'd trade him for Makar, and I think that would almost ensure Colorado of a Cup final. But there's no way they're giving up a top defenseman for any goalie.

So my question is what exactly would we get?

Since you asked...For a team with considerable cup asperations this yr and for the next let's just 3 yr window..

A 1st and current top 6 with a good prospect would be the bare minimum.

This dynamic is going to really change if you see the Canes and Leafs flame out in the playin round and esp for the Leafs if they don't make the final 4... Most honest fans know Campbell and Freddy aren't taking them anywhere near a cup. Adding Gibby for either team is a coup worthy of a big swing. Esp at his # and age. People are downgrading JG because he plays with no goal support and hardly any D support.
Now it would be up to Murray to emphasize these points to any potential trade partner... A big ask of that moron but still doable.

This off season should be interesting. Murray thinking this team was a possible playoff contender was a huge blunder. Can Murray say hello to "rude awakening?"

I'm probably wrong, but why would Murray be allowed to make major moves to improve this team with only 1 year left on his contract (unless he's going to be resigned)? It makes no sense. At a minimum, I would think a new GM should be brought in to facilitate the rebuild going forward, and to put their assistants in place (to set a record for the worst PP in hockey history says it all) that can improve the PP and PK. The players seem to really like Eakens, so I'm on the fence with him.

For me it's really at the point that if Murray doesn't do something significant to improve the goal scoring - PP and PK then it's obvious that Henry and Susan don't really care about winning and should just sell the team.

People keep saying how they are great owners for all the charity work .. for me they'd still be dong all that regardless of team ownership... hell they'd probably do more ...

Everyone with a pulse knows BM needs to go. If however he stays trading or seeing the market for JG has to be a priority. Along with Manson and for me Hampus. At this point protecting Fluery is a no brainer ...

Haydon, Cam, Jamie, and Benoit for me are the building blocks on the backend. Plus with Andersson and Drew along with Nickl and Thrun.. esp Thrun the D looks really good going forward.

The F group just jettison everyone and roll the kids down the line. put some muscle on the 4th line and let's go with Stolli and Dostal in net.

A low first and a top 6 forward does very little to help the Ducks. And the avalanche don't Wana give up a good prospect like bowen Byram. So there's not a deal that works with Colorado. Maybe the Leafs if they trade mitch marner. But the leafs fans love marner. So that won't work. There really isn't a good trade partner for Gibson. Not one that would give the Ducks anything they need.
