That was a terrible game to watch! Switching back and forth to CBC and the Leafs Canadians game it was obvious how far away Detroit and Columbus are from being decent. At times it looked like both teams were trying to tank. The Blue Jackets start of a minor league goalie two nights in a row was so obvious that the league should look at it. Hopefully the ping pong balls bounce the wrong way for Columbus. If we had to win I wish more of the kids scored and not the old guys scoring meaningless goals that potentially keep us a pick or two from a difference making draft selection.

I don't understand this article, with all due respect. 1st its speculation that Torts was forced to play a player. 2nd both teams are going nowhere so why not play younger players? 3rd who cares what a team other than Detroit does in its last couple of meaningless games. 4th maybe focus on how the Red Wings didn't give up. It wasn't pretty but they didn't tank.

Taking this article as a throw away, great job this seaon!

And that’s it. It just felt like complete disrespect to the game. It was nasty

Playing the kid once, that happens. No one leaves the same kid in net while he struggles that way. Detroit played to the end, and I mentioned that. This game was just disrespectful. That kid was not in a good place, and he and his team deserved better. Torts body language said it all. He’s willing to bench his top line if they’re not playing. He wasn’t able to pull that kid when he was falling apart. That was awful to watch and it shouldn’t happen. Detroit respected the game, it wasn’t reciprocated. If you don’t care about that, that’s well within your right. I felt like it was awful and everyone deserved better. Just my opinion

Completely agree!!! I think Torts is done and will take a year off. You might see him working as an analyst for one of the new nhl networks. Hopefully Blashill is done as well. I do have to give him credit for not allowing the team to quit, but he still can’t coach his way out of a paper bag.

Torts, love him or hate him, won’t take a night off. With what Brind’amour is rumored to be taking as his new salary (1.8 x3) the coaching market will be interesting. Torts gets 2.5, Gallant has an ask of 5. We could see Blashill get another year just because he’s low end salary. Strange days coming

It sounds like he is officially done in Columbus, I wonder if starting an AHL goalie the last two games was the final bail in the coffin?

Announced almost immediately after the game. Torts is out. He wasn’t running his own bench at the end

It wasn’t his call. CBJ is looking to shed a lot of $$. It was mentioned a month or more ago that they want to spend less than Torts 2.5m behind the bench. He look stone faced for most of the game. It was already out of his hands

A little harsh there Jeremy. It was a meaningless game except for those that needed to show their talents for a future in this league. Finally a game where they let some of the kids play!
