I mentioned last blog, Staal was brought in for face offs and centre depth. He's been awful. Sit him if we can.

thanks Karine. about this

I don’t know for sure if, as reported, Eric Staal only agreed to lift his no movement clause to come to Montreal because he made Bergevin promise him that he would not be a healthy scratch, but enough with the gentleman agreement.

let's say this is true (and if it is, I'm completely baffled by it)... what happens then if Ducharme actually benches him? what would be Staal's leverage, does he have some sort of compromising pictures involving Bergevin and DD? lol

(frank) that. Unless it's on paper, AND Molson is unwilling to swallow the cost, Staal isn't a viable option.

They have to play Staal because of the injuries, no more call ups (except emergency) and cap gymnastics the Habs are playing right now.

Staal should be a scratch when the playoffs start... if anyone else is sitting so he can play, then this team deserves to lose.

hopefully Price can goal at least one of those games, ideally both. but there's really no indication leaning towards that...

Hence why the blog says WHEN (IF) this team is healthy... and right now, there is no cap gymnastics with Drouin on LTIR but yeah true, they do not have any recalls to get someone of the TS, but right now, healthy scratch D Gustafsson as a 4th line winger sounds better than Staal... that says a lot lol

having a healthy Price, Gallagher, Danault, and Weber on top of their game (or close to that) would be pretty noice.

Yeah, when I meant those things, I did not mean right now, but over the last several weeks, there were reasons he could not actually be scratched. And the cap gymnastics are mostly because of Staal (and Gustafson) the Habs would have had plenty of cap space to deal with injuries.

I suspect MB was in full panic mode, which resulted in making everything worse with those trade.

Gustafsson was really the nail in the coffin of any cap flexibility we had...totally worth it. NOT.

If he did, Caufield would have played with KK at least once LOL

And in the intermission tonight, Friedman reported that Bergevin and Molson are discussing the future... I cannot for the life of me comprehend how he could sign him to an extension before seeing how this team does in the playoffs...i’m speechless
