Capitals winger Lars Eller and New York Rangers forward Ryan Strome dropped the gloves with one another during Washington's 4-2 win over New York last Wednesday, a game that featured six fights in the first five minutes following what the Rangers felt was a cheap shot from Tom Wilson on Artemi Panarin in the clash two days prior.C
Nearly one week after the fact, Eller joined the Sports Junkies and when asked about the fight he said he had never spoken to Strome once before the two got into it.
"I never had a conversation with him before in my life," Eller said.
Eller's fight -- which was the final of the six in the opening five minutes of the first period -- happened right after a faceoff in which Strome, somewhat politely, asked him to fight.
"He just asked me during the faceoff, 'please fight me.' ... I can't remember if he said 'please,'" Eller said. "I think he was like 'I need one. Let's go. I need one.' I was like 'Alright, fine.'
"Once you drop the gloves and it's on, it's either hit or get hit. It's just that simple," Eller continued. - jimbro83
Strome has really grown on me. This is not hurting that. Just wish he could learn to win a draw with that fire!!! |

Boomer and Gio would love it because everyday they call him "Cuts Nuts off" and then laugh for a half hour over it

Then it's a must for me
IDK, just saw it on Bleacher Report. He might fit in nicely with Panarin, Kravs, Shesty, and Buch (if still here).
Not sure is Caps a realistic trade partner though |

As much as I like him, that 7.8 is too much for a guy that's still in the low 40% on draws. |

If the Rangers get Wilson they don't have to worry about him anymore.

I want UFA Ovechkin and Lundqvist returning for a cup run. Sprinkle in some Landeskog and the cup is theirs. |

Ok so wheres the logic behind this? We can just keep Strome.
1 - We already know Strome can play with and produce with Panarin quite well. Kuz will probably do the same. Lateral
2 - Kuz is the same, if not worse, than Strome on faceoffs. Lateral
3 - Kuz does not play defense, Strome isnt anything special there either. Neither is particularly physical. Lateral
4 - The way Strome is spoken about by his peers, he really seems like an excellent locker room guy to have. Kuz, I cant see being much of a team guy other than with the Russians. Edge: Strome
There is absolutely no point in trading for Kuz when we already have a player like him. |

Kuznetsov had a drug suspension just 2 years ago for cocaine. That is not an element that I want to bring into the youngest team in the NHL. PASS! |

Now that my blood is done boiling from that whole thing I actually have to give the caps players that fought (aside from Wilson, obviously) a lot of credit. Their teammate put them in a tough position and they answered the bell.
Guys like Hagelin, Eller, etc don't fight and the fact that they were willing to when they weren't even involved shows that they respect the code of the game.
That said, F Tom Wilson and I hope the B's sweep the Caps, but I did want to acknowledge that there were some guys on that team that did the right thing. |

If they keep him, they keep him, but if they do, what that says is, Quinn was better at his job than Gorton and Davidson were at theirs. Crazy

Since he is under contract I guess technically they don't have to say anything if he is just keeping the job. So silence may just mean status quo |

He would be ideal for what the type of player they need. Just need to move a top 6 winger the other way |

Brooks: I have made it clear that I believe the Rangers need to do far more than improve on the margins. I believe they need to hunt for big game to change the dynamic of their top six, and yes, of course if there is any way to pry Matthew Tkachuk out of Calgary that should become Drury’s singular obsession. There is nobody, but nobody, who would be a better fit.
Of course the bounty sent the other way would be massive. The Rangers have four players with no-move clauses in Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, none of whom would suit the Flames, anyway.
I’d wall off Igor Shesterkin, Adam Fox and Alexis Lafreniere as untouchable, I’d designate Ryan Lindgren nearly untouchable and go from there.
Does that mean I’m in a hurry to move Kaapo Kakko? No. Or K’Andre Miller? Certainly not. But as I have said before, the Rangers are going to have to trade someone they don’t want to sacrifice in order to get a transformational top-six player.
Maybe I am wrong, but I don’t envision a package consisting of a permutation of Filip Chytil, Pavel Buchnevich, Vitali Kravtsov, Zac Jones, Nils Lundkvist and future first-rounders getting it done.
Do you think Neil Smith wanted to trade Tony Amonte? |

to me the biggest problem with Tkachuk is probably why he is being rumored to be on the block to begin with, his contract this coming season is 9 million in cash, so he needs to be qualified about over 9 million a year his next deal
and Panarin at 11.6 million, Tkachuk over 9 million, Kreider at 6.5 and eventually Lafreniere getting a payday, how much money can we spend at left wing?
I do agree that Tkachuk is a massive need, he'd come here and be the total douchebag we desperately need and he's terrific offensively |
