Exactly why the Sabres are trying to delay the surgery until later in the summer
He has the surgery later teams want to see him on the ice first. He plays in Buffalo and has a good year and gets dealt and the Sabres get a better trade package
Eichel gets the surgery now, he starts skating in about 6 weeks and his agent starts getting video out there showing he is ready to force the Sabres hand to trade him this off season.
Sabres trade him for a much lesser package - Stripes77

Guess you can't not put something like this against this organization, but if something goes wrong with the surgery or recovery you have severely F@cked yourself. |

it would give you 2 - top 5 picks. even if this is a weaker draft and you compare to a similar weaker draft like 2017, that still means you can come away with 2 of Hischire, Petterson, Makar, Heiskanen. if you were offered two of them right now for Eichel you'd take it. throw in getting out of Skinner's albatross. its a pretty good deal. - Ross77
Lol no it’s absolutely brutal for Jack Eichel |

I haven't heard this per se but if you break it down, logically it makes sense as to why there is this big issue about having the surgery or not. |

Hypothetically, couldn't Eichel get the surgery and dare the Sabres to call his bluff and invalidate the contract? - jcragcrumple
With regard to the struggle between Jack and Kim on what the medical procedure should be...
•Contract gives Sabres rights to determine apparently.
•Would be safe to assume that the surgery will be covered by insurance provided by Sabres
•Would be safe to assume if the player goes against Sabres medical recommendation/decision:
a) Jack pays for it
b) Jack assumes all risk including no contract payments in the event something goes wrong
That is alot of financial burden and risk put on Jack, hence why this issue is getting rather ugly.
He doesn't want to incur the cost (significant) of surgery and the cost of insuring the contract value himself, or assume the risk of being left with nothing. Smart by him.
Sabres medical advisors must have provided guidance to the club that surgery is risky...maybe they would be on the hook by the insurance policy if he has a procedure not recommended by their medical experts and they approved it.
It is all financial risks being hammered out, not just that they don't want him to have surgery. |

Well with this Organization it wouldn't surprise me, and if Surgery was recommended, if something happened during surgery or recovery you have severely F@cked yourself then. |

then i can not help you. Every GM in the game today, yesterday or tomorrow would trade Eichel for Petterson and Heiskanen or Hischire and Makar. every dam one. |
|
|
|
Then we’d get a worse return fir Eichel
Didn’t u see what happened with O’Reilly when we made StL pay the bonus?
Let’s not make the same mistake & devalue Eichel
That would be a dumb idea - jdfitz77
Trading Eichel is totally different than ROR. We are rebuilding trading him. Dump skinner while you can |

No win for Adam's on this deal.
Rangers will offer up the likes of
Strome- player now that can help - no chance they give up guys like Lafreniere or Kakko. Maybe Miller if push comes to shove
Prospects like Jones or Robertson - no chance they offer up guys like Lundkvist or Schnieder
Maybe someone like Georgiev as well
And then throw in a first or multiple 2nd's/3rds

I know it isn't popular but I don't disagree with what Rivet said. It isn't rebuilding, it is swapping assets. We will surely spin him for young top prospects and that's on the timeline of the core we have. We put ourselves a couple of years back but it's not a rebuild. |
