I'll be honest, when he said "my number one goal is Jack Eichel." I knew it was over.
It's done. I don't think this relationship is tenable |

So You just want to be a bubble team that will never win the cup? - gerbe75pts
And you know for a fact that drafting with late first round picks because whoever gets Eichel is going to be a playoff team is the key to success.

I definitely agree with you the foundation of the core was weak. But i think this year .... besides eichel being beaten up.
Reinhart at center has been great, the kids are progression for once, and Dahlin unleashed.
With some tweaks like getting rid of sheehan irwin and a few others and replacing them with real NHL players and the first overall pick.
We would be primed to get going.
If you want to do some house keeping ...... Get rid of Risto, Colin Miller, Olofsson to open up some cap space. |

Ottawa got extremely lucky that the Karlsson trade blew up in SJs face. |

You mean as opposed to finishing in last place every other year? Please don't act as if any of the players you've mentioned have contributed to a winning team. |

Retool? I’ve only said it 100000 times
There are ways to do this without giving up the next 3+ years. |

2021 1st, 2022/2023 1st, Laff, Georg/Sherk, Fox, Chytil/Miller,
2 first and 4 good prospects... idk if that does it. - DirtyDan
I stopped here. Please tell me this is the apex of insanity
Kakko, Georgiev, 1st, 2nd
Seems entirely reasonable. I’m quite certain the Rangers aren’t handing over their 1st overall pick and the d-man who’s about to win the Norris

I have suffered from chronic neck pain since I was young and had a recent mri and have spoken with several doctors about surgery (and have done my own research). My impression is that there is a drastic difference between cases. Neck surgery and recovery is much much more complex and risky than, for example, knee, elbow and even shoulder surgery (I have had shoulder surgery). In my case the doctors advised against it because they didn't think it is bad enough to take on the risk. I do home exercises and take several (non-opioid) medications every day.
If the doctors said that fusion is the best solution for Eichel then this would result in one very large vertebrae and, I am pretty sure, hardware that would stay in long term. The hardware would make his spine more delicate and the single large vertebrae increases the chances of the disk underneath it getting damaged (increased weight/pressure on the disk). So it is understandable why the Sabres wouldn't want him to undergo surgery . Of course, they are not the ones who have to suffer the pain.
I think what the Sabres should try to do if they lose Eichel is to try to build a trapping/defense first type team, like with Trotz did with the NYI. He didn't have many stars to work with there but rather a bunch of average players. They swept the Pens in the playoffs two years ago playing that style.
Also, if there is a fire sale in Buffalo it would be nice if Hextall/Burke can figure out a way to get Tage Thompson . He scores half his goals against the Pens and the Pens could really use his size. |
