Compete, play good hockey, make a run for the playoffs, get better as they grow together. Can't believe I am saying this, but more worried about Sam right know than Eichel
- Buff36

A run at the playoffs would be nice for next year
But I’ll take a great young talent in return who can help us win for the next 10years as opposed to dumping Skinner

There’s a CAP FLOOR we have to get to

That's fine, but you understand that any deal you make, you will not be getting the best player back in the deal. You're always getting an inferior player. 100% of the time.

Well said that in my posts, good young players that help us next year and down the road.

Even more of a reason we should want 4+ pieces that have great potential,
instead of just 1 and -Skinner

Fair enough. In a sick way I'm excited to see how they do with this. Probably not great, Bob

Right
But we should want as many of them as possible,
not just 1 or 2

To be fair any team acquiring Eichel is going to have a very late First. Like High 20s in 2022-2023
- ImThatGuy

Yup.
It's Fools Gold to trade Eichel to a bubble team, then expect their 2022 pick to be....good, relevant, of value...top 5 or 10 or even a lottery pick.

None of the 4 or 8 or 12 pieces you get back will be as good as Eichel one 1-to-1 talent scale. People need to understand that now. The best we can hope for is that the sum of the parts approximates equal value through total talent and cost savings

Right- no one disagrees with that

It’s just easier for that sum total to add up higher if we get more than ONLY 1 or 2 pieces back

Perfect.

Means having a deeper pool of talent on this team instead of being so top heavy.

hi guys the idiot in me would like to point out that there is a chance eichel was just using the little leverage he has to steer the offseason in a direction he has in mind and hasn't actually requested a trade

thank you for coming to my ted talk

In 3 years when we're (hopefully) good again, we'd be glad that salary is gone

Could be. It was kind of a revelation to hear Travis Yost talk on WGR today about how there's probably no team in the NHL with a larger talent gap between their most talented player and their second most talented player. Something clicked in me.

In any case, they'll need to hit on this year's pick (plus the return) because they have no elite talent if Eichel is gone

If Vegas says

Glass
Karlsson
Tuch

For Eichel.

You have To do that, right?

Granted I see no way VGK does that.

Just showing you don’t just have to take picks/prospects back.

I’ve thought of this, but I think this injury thing is real.

Remember how weird the Sabres we’re about it all season basically?

Nah.

Glass isn’t that good. Seems to be on a trajectory to average to slightly above average

Theodore + though....

Maybe draft the next Crosby and everything will be ok .

Shane Wright's never accepted losing. Not even as a toddler.

"Shane has this other edge," his mother, Tanya, told theScore. "When he was young I had to discipline him for it. It was embarrassing. It would be like three-year-old 'sportball,' and he would be losing his mind at three-year-olds who weren’t doing it right or trying hard enough."

Wright's competitiveness extends beyond sports, even boiling over into family game nights.

"There’s been the odd board that has ended upside down before it's over," his father, Simon, said.

Wright admitted his intensity always shows up, regardless of what's at stake.

"Everything I do, I want to win," he said. "I'm also kind of a perfectionist. I hold myself to high standards. I want to win in whatever I do. Whether it's a board game or a sport or whatever it is, I'm competitive and I want to win it."

That competitive nature and that will to win, while sometimes embarrassing for his parents when he was growing up, has helped Wright blossom into a potential generational hockey player. Even though he's only 16 years old and not NHL draft eligible until 2022, he's already drawn comparisons to Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, and John Tavares - the next ones that came before him.

You have to win a lottery where it’s very hard to win if your last.

You say no thanks to lottery tickets but want a repeat of putting all eggs in a McDavid basket
