Makes sense
They’re good buds- safe to assume they’ve talked - jdfitz77
Sam should get a decent return himself. |

Nah.
Glass isn’t that good. Seems to be on a trajectory to average to slightly above average
Theodore + though.... - sbroads24
Theodore like Fox is untouchable IMO.
I’d you are getting a dman back he’s a sub piece and not the main piece. |

There's no trade that Vegas could make happen that makes sense for Buffalo. |

Agreed
Sam has had a really good season
As a still young RFA,
I’d think his value is pretty high |

Nothing we can do. They don’t want to be here.
We didn’t win anyway when they were here so might as well try something different. |

Whatever we get back,
it should be that team’s BEST young pieces & not “secondary” guys |

Theodore moves the needle though.
They absolutely cannot take back a package of players who don’t move the needle.
Even if they get one impact player/prospect and a first. It’s better than 3 Victor Olofsson types |

I’ve thought of this, but I think this injury thing is real.
Remember how weird the Sabres we’re about it all season basically? - sbroads24
Yea, but the part where he hasn't sought a 2nd opinion let alone taken it to arbitration is very strange and doesn't add up

hi guys the idiot in me would like to point out that there is a chance eichel was just using the little leverage he has to steer the offseason in a direction he has in mind and hasn't actually requested a trade
thank you for coming to my ted talk - robz228
I think Jack is here next season.
I think Sam stays as well, with Jack.

Ok, here's the Skinner trade:
First Step:
TO ANA: 2021 2nd (from BOS) + Jeff Skinner at 50% ($4.5M)
TO BUF: 2021 6th or some low-rent prospect
Second Step:
TO VGK: Jeff Skinner @ $2.25M
TO ANA: 2021 2nd (Retained 50% $2.25)
Why does Vegas does this? Because they are a cap-strapped team and maybe they believe Skinner is a victim of playing in Buffalo and capable for being a decent middle six winger.
ANA pays $2.25 for six years and gets two 2nd round picks.

I can see Vancouver trading #8 overall for him. Would get a really good player there. |

i'd rather have skinner and try to work with it than half of his cap hit and minus two second round picks

Assuming we get great picks & young players as part of the Eichel trade,
we might wanna go in a different direction with Sam & try to get someone that can play sooner
Not that a top10 pick in this draft doesn’t have talent, but it might well be a few years before it’s making a difference for us

Tough to say
If he’s dealt without a contract he could just arb his way to UFA with the team that acquired him.
He’s effectively a rental.

I thought only 50% of a players total salary could be held? I don't think Buffalo could hold 50% and then Anaheim hold 50% on what's left? |

They can. I believe that's what the Pens did with the Brassard trade.
