So you'd rather $9M for a player who can't score for you? Oooook.
- Rinosaur

Than hold $4.5 for 6 years and lose 2 2nds...
Uhhh,
Yes. Unequivocally yes.

I thought only 50% of a players total salary could be held? I don't think Buffalo could hold 50% and then Anaheim hold 50% on what's left?

Buying him out doesn't cost you a 2nd round pick and makes infinitely more sense than your proposal

You're not losing two 2nds, dummy. You're giving up one to move him to ANA. Vegas is giving up the other 2nd.

👏👏👏
More evidence showing it would be a bad idea to dump Skinner in an Eichel trade & devalue the return

No, you're right. Pay him for TWELVE YEARS, three of which you'll have to dump space because the hit jumps up, so not only pay him for TWELVE YEARS, make it so your GM has to navigate three complicated years.

Idiot.

well yeah buying him out doesn't make sense either, but it makes more sense than retaining half his salary and giving away a 2nd round pick to do it

Look, what I'm proposing isn't happening, but that's what we're doing here. Talking about things that will never happen.

Freeing up $4.5M for a player who may actually produce for you and you burn a 2nd. Well, you guys fired a bunch of your scouting staff anyway, so your picks don't really mean much.

after krueger was fired, skinner played at a 4.5 million level easily

if you're retaining half his salary in a hypothetical trade, you should be getting the pick, not giving it up

Hey, it's tough to defend this organization...we KNOW they are complete arrogant and ignorant asswipes.
That isn't the intent.

The intent is there are bigger fish to fry, and the best situation for the Sabres is to try to maximize Skinners production to be less of a loss. If they can get him back to 20 - 25sh G's that trumps holding $4./m.
Drop down to $2.5m ... I'm in.

don’t make the same mistake you made with Hall and his expected trade return....i’ve already seen some wild ones here. jack is obviously better, but definitely temper those expectations.

okay i got it

buffalo trades skinner to anaheim for a 2nd round pick

anaheim trades skinner to buffalo, retains half his salary, for two second round picks

buffalo trades skinner to anaheim, retains half his salary for a 6th round pick

there we go
