Byfield, Kaliyev/Bjornfoot, 1st, 2nd for Eichel?

M. Tkachuk for Reinhart, 2nd?

Miller, 3rd to Seattle?

Risto for ???

- zdp1189

That is a fair deal for Eichel. But there is cap to worry about for LA. Would Buffalo be interested in taking the last 2 seasons of Quick to get a better return? I feel if this is the type of trade Buffalo goes for, it signals a rebuild, not a reload, so the two years of Quick should not cause any issues, especially if they get more assets in return.

While I don't think Tkachuk for Reinhart and a 2nd is terrible for either team talent and value wise. I don't think a team going into any type of rebuild should be looking at Tkachuk. His contract is specifically designed to get him as much money and to UFA as fast as possible. His qualifying offer is 9 million after next season. You will either have to give him a huge contract he can't turn down, and hope he doesn't turn into another Skinner. If you don't give him the contract he wants, he accepts the 9 million qualifying offer and tests the market after next year. I don't think he signs to go through a rebuild. I guess you can trade his RFA rights, but I think there are better options for Reinhart, especially if you are adding picks with him.

The question is whether the Sabres should even want to continue to commit to 3 players who are ambivalent at best about their desire to be here

Unless Adams comes out Wednesday and says "we informed Jack Eichel to proceed with his preferred treatment," I don't see this ending with Eichel in a Sabres sweater in October.

Even then I don't see it

Why does he even have to say that. We are following the advice of are Medical staff. And if it has gotten that bad a grievance could have been filed already.

I don't understand how a team does this, especially with a star player. Like if the dude needs surgery, you get him the surgery. He's your best asset and you should be protecting him at all costs.

Seems insane to me that they would fight a guy like this on something like this. It's gotta be the Pegulas interfering and trying to pinch pennies. Nothing else makes sense.

This is why i'm of the opinion eichel is using this as leverage to move the team in a certain direction, and he's the one stirring the pot to do that.

He hasn't sought a 2nd opinion. That invalidates all of this. How has he not sought a 2nd opinion if he disagrees with the team?

His answers were rehearsed, if he's done and gone why bother rehearsing?

Yeah, I was being sarcastic .

If jack wants out, he gets out.

Wouldnt the pegula's be ready to move forward anyways?

Bad look for the Sabres to have a player actually sit out a season under contract. Worse look, if possible....

Jack dangles his injuries and forces a trade IMO

He's been around to see multiple players fall out of grace here only to be revived and thrive elsewhere:

- Lehner
- Kane
- Ror
- Hall
- Montour

It's 100% logical for him to want out, and the Sabres should as well. Stick to the philosophy of rostering players who are proud to be Sabres.

Start with trading 55 a minute before his presser today or tomorrow whenever it is.

Sabres need BDE big Richard energy in the organization, instead they have a waitress at the wheel and a puppet for a GM.

Eichel to LA for Kupari, Turcotte, Brown/Quick (cap dump) and their first rounder this year.

Reinhart goes to Arb and gets his one year pay day and we probably move him at the deadline next year as a rental for a first round pick and a prospect. (unless they can convince a team to do a sign and trade this offseason for him)

Risto to Winnipeg for Copp.

Sticking with his philosophy of having players who want to be a Sabre and are proud to wear the jersey, he has to get rid of these vets.

Donny Meatballs showed us there are options, the kids can play. These vets (55, 23, 9) started on a team with a drunk GM, a mentally unstable goalie, a bankrupt wanna be rockstar, and an ego driven hero (it did get him a cup, still big ego). They have the stink on them, the kids don't....yet, Adams needs to be aggresive.

how do you know he hasn't gotten a second opinion?

Hall's comments last night kind of corroborated what Eichel said, that this has been an ongoing thing for quite a while now.

You really believe he hasnt has a 2nd opinion.
Eichel hates the Sabres

My hunch - Jack's had a "2nd" opinion already.

When it's time to play for the Sabres next season, he'll get his public 2nd opinion.

What I saw yesterday was Eichel posturing himself, and a bunch of scripted answers to certain questions. I was laughing at the reporters asking the same question just in different ways to see if Jack would change his answers, Jesus Jack even laughed a few times. It's unfortunately a long offseason let's see how it plays out before people start jumping of bridges.

Didn't they say earlier in the year that he was going to Boston or something for a second opinion? or am I imagining things?

Yeah. If this is as calculated as he believes it to be, there's no way Jack drops bombs like this without having his ducks in a row.

But I don't think it is. I don't think Jack's all that clever. I think he's just fed up.

That's not a bad return for Jack if Byfield isn't an option.

I don't see how you can go into the season with 23 - you could risk him getting hurt and then getting nothing for him.

No way to tell, but Hall's comments doesn't mean he did either. The big thing for me was that he didn't enter a grievance over it. If it was a big deal, you can and they side with the player 99% of the time I read.
