Both have won nothing in this league. Good on him for 100. The Goal Is To Win The Cup. - DirtyDan
If McDavid was in Buffalo they would have made it into the playoffs already. He’s that good. |

Maybe time to lower expectations.
Busted neck among other numerous injuries. One really good season points wise.
Terrible defensively.
Not to mention a 10 million cap hit in a league that generates almost zero profit.
He's also the same guy lolly gagging back to the bench after shifts staring at ceiling.
On top of all that, every team knows he wants out.
What a disaster |

The Oilers made the playoffs once with a normal schedule with McDavid. That division is a joke this year, just like the Pacific is in every other year. |

If a team really, really wants him though, they'll pay up. Owners and GM's get greedy. As Anthony Molina said, "people pay to get wet". |

You have to face facts. Eichel is a super star like many others and McDavid is just in his own category of unfvcking real. |

This - not really well thought out. Maybe you root for a team that you hope gets Eichel in a fire sale. |

I’m trying to remember from what I’ve read here.. Was Montour the one they would put up on the wing, if not playing him on his off side or just scratching him because of so many RHD on roster? |

Well that too, but they very much played him at left wing last year. Ridiculous but it happened several times |

No point posting this year. He was playing with an oblique, a broken rib and a (frank)ed up neck |

Terrible defensively huh? Never heard that complaint before, probably because it had no validity to it. He's pretty stout actually.
How about this. You said all that. Now the positives:
Insane play driver, possibly top five in the league as far as getting the puck out of the defensive zone and into the attacking one.
Putting up great offensive numbers last year as well as this year before the neck injury.
Injuries happen yes, but good news being that mostly have been isolated (not recurring). Could chalk up to luck, of the bad variety.
10M may seem like a lot, but he's the best player on the ice nearly all the time he's playing. It's also for the prime years of his career.

I'm not denying that, at all, I'm saying as good as he is he still hasn't been able to move the needle appreciably.
Edit: Also, the year they made the real playoffs McDavid kinda sucked. I mean, Mark Letestu had more points in the playoffs than Jesus and Pat Maroon had one less. That's "Lazy European" territory. |

I get no one likes the stat but he is a minus 69 career player.

I think the GM's in Friedman's article seem to agree that as of right now we'll get back a first, a decent prospect and something else. Like I said, I think he needs to play to change that. - Slump Buster
