That's two dumps in Rask and Suter. Try Rossi, Boldy, 21 & 22 firsts for just Eichel. - SDSabre
The proposal was not good, but you are trading a player with a 10 million cap hit, in a league that has a cap the isn't moving. More likely you are going to have to take a cap dump back.

Probably didn't think they could sign him, and we are idiots here. - Buff36
It hasn’t been a long time here, but he’s been really solid so far. Playing 2nd pair RD. Someone reported (I forget who) today that FL is already talking to him about a contract extension. |

Maybe time to lower expectations.
Busted neck among other numerous injuries. One really good season points wise.
Terrible defensively.
Not to mention a 10 million cap hit in a league that generates almost zero profit.
He's also the same guy lolly gagging back to the bench after shifts staring at ceiling.
On top of all that, every team knows he wants out.
What a disaster - Pet.m.d.

Wouldn't surprise me, he isn't the first player to excel for his new team after leaving Buffalo |

Rask is a solid 4th line tweener. Sutter is really good defensively.
And you're getting three 1st round talents.
Money is coming back in no matter what for sure
I'm a Sabres fan and prefer they dont trade him.
Unfortunately it looks like it is happening.

I'm not denying that, at all, I'm saying as good as he is he still hasn't been able to move the needle appreciably.
Edit: Also, the year they made the real playoffs McDavid kinda sucked. I mean, Mark Letestu had more points in the playoffs than Jesus and Pat Maroon had one less. That's "Lazy European" territory. - Wetbandit1
McDavid in just more evidence that in hockey, even the best players can't win it by themselves.
Gretzky went to the finals once after leaving Edmonton.

If a team really, really wants him though, they'll pay up. Owners and GM's get greedy. As Anthony Molina said, "people pay to get wet". - Powerslave
This is an excellent post on a few levels 👍

Honestly I think you're on moon juice..
My trade proposal is exceptional.
We're not getting 4 firsts, two top center prospects, a goalie and whatever else.
Just saying, might want to lower expectations on return |

He's good offensively, not the greatest defensively.
Sabres, especially Kreuger miss used him, and all the puck moving defensemen..and screwed them up along the way. He was redundant with Risto, Joker and Miller.
Enjoy him, he's fun to watch...but be aware of his defensive liabilities. |

I get no one likes the stat but he is a minus 69 career player. - Pet.m.d.
Probably because hockey is much more of a team sport then some like to give it credit for? Eichel isn't bad defensively, like at all. To suggest so proves you don't watch many sabres games |

Good and fair analysis. Montour was playing his best hockey when traded too.
I think fla might be a little hungrier than Tampa?
Really looking forward to the matchup

That's fine, then add a dump. The proposed was crap, and my counter was this: pick 9 in 2020, pick 12 in 2019, what will be a later first in 21 and 22 most likely. It's not like it's 3 top five picks we're talking about here. As far as Rask, like was said he's a fourth liner making 4M and suter is just not that good anymore for 7.5M for 4 more years |

Then you would know Eichel isn't bad defensively. poop he's not even net nuetral defensively. He's a positive player defensively. |

I'd hazard a guess that more than half of his 69 (nice) minuses are from empty-net situations |

Your best players face the best and sometimes, All situations. So if you're on bad teams, that minus will stack up. If you're smart enough, you'll realize that, contextually, that minus doesn't (frank)ing mean anything. |

Rask isn't a problem and would be a fine cap dump, with only 1 year at 4 million left.
Sutter is good defensively, but has a NMC and 4 years left at 7.5m. I don't think he is waiving it to go spend his last couple of years with the Sabres.
I also think they can get a better package from other teams. I may be wrong.
Time will tell. I think the wilds picks will be in the bottom half of the draft, especially next years if they add Eichel. I think too many people are looking at the number of picks. If they can get a pick in the top 10, plus top prospect. For example lets say Drysdale and the 1st from the Ducks, or Byfield and the kings first. I'm not a sabres fan, but I think the top 10 pick is worth more to me then these proposal for multiple first rounders that will likely be between 15 to 25. But that is just my opinion. |

Hey Sabres fans, I was looking at capfriendly and unless I'm missing something, does Eichel's NMC really not kick in for another two years? |

I remember during the great ROR flamewars I went back and counted all the minuses he took from empty net situations. It was staggering.
I have no interest in defending Eichel to that degree from the detractors. My hope is that people (and really, by "people" I mean the Sabres organization) realize how badly they (frank)ed up and how much they need to get this right. I think they've crossed the event horizon with Eichel and they need to be able to extract value from a poopty situation of their own doing.
If they can patch it up, godspeed. That's great. I doubt they can truly un-ring that bell |
