The proposal was not good, but you are trading a player with a 10 million cap hit, in a league that has a cap the isn't moving. More likely you are going to have to take a cap dump back. - r8edr
Why does it have to be a cap dump instead of a good player? |

Hey Sabres fans, I was looking at capfriendly and unless I'm missing something, does Eichel's NMC really not kick in for another two years? - Rinosaur
Next offseason I believe |

Rask isn't a problem and would be a fine cap dump, with only 1 year at 4 million left.
Sutter is good defensively, but has a NMC and 4 years left at 7.5m. I don't think he is waiving it to go spend his last couple of years with the Sabres.
I also think they can get a better package from other teams. I may be wrong.
Time will tell. I think the wilds picks will be in the bottom half of the draft, especially next years if they add Eichel. I think too many people are looking at the number of picks. If they can get a pick in the top 10, plus top prospect. For example lets say Drysdale and the 1st from the Ducks, or Byfield and the kings first. I'm not a sabres fan, but I think the top 10 pick is worth more to me then these proposal for multiple first rounders that will likely be between 15 to 25. But that is just my opinion. - r8edr
Your opinion is correct. A top 10 pick is far more valuable then two in the 25-30 range |

That at least gives the Sabres leverage to get a solid deal.

My thoughts on Jack
He'll get his surgery in June /July.
He'll need next season to provide absolute proof to the league hhe is an absolute beast again.
In a Trade scenario, next offseason, he should be packaged with Olo to provide the best return...Olo's success is driven purely off Jack, no sense retaining him w/o Jack. The potential to add 50 goals between the 2 of them will produce an unbelieveable return...5 assets ;
- rostered player of 2nd line quality
- 2 premium A prospects
- 2 1st round picks

This is absolutely what the Sabres should do. %100
So he's going to be traded before/ at the draft |

Be working with a short window to get deal done after playoffs but of course you could have it close |

Correct, it does not kick in until summer of 2023.
I say we should double-down on Eichel and keep him after mulling it over.
You know what, let him have his surgery. Then come back healthy by the start of next season and be ready to play your ass off, because Reinfart is getting traded, Skinner is leaving on the first train West, Ristolainen is getting traded, Miller gone, McCabe gone, Hutton gone...
Say hello to your linemates: Kyle Okposo and Victor Olofsson, el capitan. Time to lead Glass-Cranium, Kotalik Jr. and a group of rag-tag young'ins, to the playoffs or don't but you are here until you're 30 and this is your f*cking team, your words not mine. |

Wow. Tralf's about as legendary a joint as Buffalo ever had if you're into live music.
The era of Lance Diamond at the EW Lounge, shows all the time at the Tralf, Town ballroom, etc will not be met again for some time. Shame. |

LOL I like it!
Just watched a clip on TSN. Seravalli and LeBrun reported the four teams with serious interest are the Kings, Rangers, Ducks and Wild.
I don't think the Rangers are willing to part with what Buffalo would want, meaning Laf or Fox. The Kings on the other hand? You could get a "KINGS" ransom. They have top prospect to spare.

so i can’t see a rebuilding Sabres team interested in him

For those still posturing that Torts is the reason CBJ players left ... here's more info that reports solidly against that Idea..
From the Athletic's CBJ beat reporter...
Blue Jackets players, contrary to popular belief, widely admired and appreciated Tortorella. While most accepted that the time had come to part ways, many seemed sad to see him go. |

Not only no, but (frank) no. Young, proven 1C or bust. You can keep the lotto tickets. It has to be a "hockey trade" or they're going to get killed. |

He's good offensively, not the greatest defensively.
Sabres, especially Kreuger miss used him, and all the puck moving defensemen..and screwed them up along the way. He was redundant with Risto, Joker and Miller.
Enjoy him, he's fun to watch...but be aware of his defensive liabilities. - IonSabres
So far he’s been good defensively, we’ll see how it goes. He endeared himself to all when he got Maroon all bent and twisted out of his mind Saturday night. After Maroon talked some smack before the game, and then slashed the puck out of Bob’s glove early in the game. Montour was a big part of showing TB that they weren’t gonna take any poop from them.
Vasi better take advantage of the days of rest before game 1 (Sunday, most likely)
