Agreed 100%.

What are other leagues doing better than the Q to make their prospect get to the NHL and be impact players more often? Pure talent is one thing that cannot be controlled, but better development can be, which is likely something heavily lacking right now.

- Mashadar

The Q has done a decent job of getting players into the NHL. Just going by Quebec isn't the full story as they provide the Maritimes/Americans/Euros as well. It's why Quebec itself hasn't provided a super star in a long time. Laf should be there and I seriously doubt he won't be a 35g-80p in two years, but it's been pretty rare. The best Quebec born player in the past 5 years is...Chabot?

they are not sitting Armia in the playoffs, games will be more physical, he will play with KK I assume.
- Symba007

I think I'd definitely rather finishing ability and speed vs the Leafs. Then again like I said before they definitely want to play like the 2011 Bruins if they play the Leafs Ie hit everything and lots of trying to irritate Matthews from Gallagher and Perry. That said, I do think Caufield right now is probably better overall than Armia though.

Did you mean to join the nhl in the past 5 years?

Otherwise the current best Quebec born player in the NHL is Huberdeau.

Before the Q and during their time in the Q is where changes need to happen.

better support for coaches (who a lot of them are simply volunteers) would be a good start

Training and development (and nutrition and other forms of support) are needed for both players AND coaches, for sure.

complicated issue. so many things to improve.
why not replicate what works well elsewhere? what do they do in Sweeden? in Finland?
and why not copy the NCAA system? scrap the LHJMQ, kids would go and play for schools, more training less games, NHL teams would then also have 4 years to sign them after the draft. this option is drastic and I don't expect to see it happen, but it would be an improvement imo.

I meant drafted in the past 5. Dubois might also be a contender, but he's been pretty "ehhhhh"

I'd say Bergeron still >_<

Fair enough.

But before kids get to the Q is also part of the issue, so that is purely a provincial thing.

a lot of things could be done so that the kids going in the Q are better prepared, hence improving the overall "product" and output to the NHL... I don't think you have to scrap the league but I get your point.

Yeah figured.

I'd go Chabot as well. Kid is amazing.

Pisses me off he's in Ottawa.

I was so goddamn sure they were gonna draft Beauvillier in 2015.

Guy had just scored like 40 goals in the Q and about 100 points in the Q.

My dad is still pissed about it.

same thing with Hendrix Lapierre last year. not saying Guhle is a bad choice, the kid looks like a solid pick. but Lapierre was ranked right there, available.
at the end of the day, you have to draft them if you really want them.

I would have been fine with Lapierre. But it would have been a risky pick imo.

But Guhle was a very solid pick for the Habs. He was my 2nd choice when the Habs picked.

First choice was Mercer (anglo in the Q).

Considering his inconsistencies, you guys would have driven him off the team two years ago.
