We're tied in points currently, but they have more Wins. They are finishing higher than us even if they don't get another point in their last 5 games
- rcerick

Thats not true. We have the same amount of points and RWs, but we have 1 more ROW. If they dont get a single point the rest of the way they drop below us due to us having the tiebreaker

Sorry, this is incorrect. Standings tie breakers goes to “Regulation Wins” first, which we are both tied, then “Regulation and OT Wins”, which Jersey leads 19 to 18. Vancouver needs one point before the end of the season, otherwise, they will be 3rd last when the dust settles.

The sad sham of it all is that they have 5 games left that are meaningless to all involved. If someone gets hurt in these meaningless games that on Bettman.

Agreed, its a pretty crappy situation to put both them and the Canucks in. In the end, the league should've just seeded them by points%. But i understand that the league wants the TV revenue from the games, and those games have lottery implications, so i get it

I was hoping we could be friends. Discuss some hockey for the team we both like. Maybe meet up at Hobby's Deli for Pastrami and share stories of spotting Erika Wacther at the arena. I could have told you a great story about meeting Ken Danyeko at a NJ Devils food drive during the lock out year right after he was in rehab with my nephew. But you ruined all that. Just like special teams ruined the NJ Devil's season.

I agree with the sentiment Queenie. At the end of the day we fans of the same squad. We don't have to agree, but the childish name calling and antics are not called for in this situation. I try and speak to people on the internet, as I would in person. I try and be respectful, and if I see posts that I strongly disagree with, I either put in my $0.02, or just ignore it on a whole.

Were all Dev's fans, and we all see the game differently. I feel it's ok to call out our areas of weakness, but always try and finish on a positive note. The farm system is booming, and we could potentially land another monster come draft day, so there is positives. But I can't give the Devs an A or B on their report card from the product they put on the ice this season. Smith is a stud, and some other young rookies impressed, but we struggled mightily on special teams, and putting a 60 minute effort in.

Everyone is couped up and sick of what the past 400+ days has cost us. I can't even imagine what going through this has been like for people in urban areas, but if you are angry, you have to find an outlet. Whether is exercise, hobby, sports, or reaching out for help via counselling, it needs to displaced in a healthy manner. Accosting random people on the internet certainly raises concern for what ones capability/rational is at their home life. Nothing wrong with getting your noggin sorted out with a couple professional sessions as need be. I worked 6 years in corrections after finishing up school, and had certain incidents I was involved with required mandatory counselling, and I was apprehensive, but it made a world of difference.

It's a matter of $. Marketing is no joke, and these games have commitments to advertisers. I wouldn't put this on Bettman. Contracts were completed and they must oblige or pay back the debts owed. I forget the exact number, but these players are actually making more per game this season (They are getting something like 68/82nd's of their salary rather than the actual 56/82nd's). To allow them to skip out on that would cost the league in revenue, and is not fair to teams like us and Buffalo who had to play out the season knowing they were not making the playoffs.

I get why it seems ridicules from a fans perspective. Viewership will be an absolute joke, but this was all laid out by the NHLPA, who seemed happy to get a very solid pay rate per game. If any positives can be taken away from this bad circumstance, it will be that some kids will get a chance to make their nhl debut's to close out the season.

Chances are Luke is available at 7? We can pick there right? Seattle going before us.. and 3 teams after us winning the lottery? I'd say slim to none. 2 forwards will likely go, Power, and then 3 other D or forwards before Luke? doubt it.

I think there's a 50% chance at 4th. Some have him ranked #1. Power, Eklund, Berniers, Clarke, Edvinsson..
then there's this LW Guenther character, with 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) +19 in 12 games in the WHL, leading the league in points-per-game with 2.00. Last season he had 26g and 33a in 58 games, +26.
Maybe the injury pushes one of the teams away and he drops a spot to us? This draft is so hard to predict.

Well said. I mean, I've certainly been guilty of mouthing off and realistically some conversations are going to get heated. But often with some good will and effort we can all either reach some common ground or just reasonably disagree. It's not a blood feud.

One thing I've tried to do is look at some of the points and legitimately try to see it from that other person's perspective. I've argued my frustration that the owners haven't spent money (for example) and was genuinely surprised by the push back. So while I don't think I was wrong, I think folks have made some reasonable points about waiting for a post covid world and when the team is closer to being competitive before drawing a real conclusion.

What I do appreciate is that many people here do make very insightful points. I've enjoyed things you've said, and I think Vlongo4419 has made some great posts as well. But the tone is an issue. Save that ire for the Ranger fans...although I think many of us have had some pretty conversations with them too.

If Vancouver gets 1 more point the lowest we can pick is 6, since there's only 2 lottery spots now. There's definitely a chance Luke is on the board when we pick unless Vancouver wins the lottery and jumps into the top 2. Hughes is the most likely top 4 D to fall out of the top 5 if we drop all the way back. I think right now i'd say the top 3 is close to being locked in with Power, Beniers, and Edvinsson. Then i think Clarke and Guenther would be next off the board before Hughes.

Odds are we'll be picking 4 or 5 though, so i think its a very high chance we can get Luke(if we're picking ahead of Vancouver)

Too bad we couldn't have moved Gusev 50% retained, but the selling market wasn't half as hot as a year prior. Isles have not played well since the deadline. Hopefully they figure things out.

I thought Palmieri and Zajac would have been natural fits for the Isles.

Not sure the top 4 picks will all be Dmen

But chances are devil's pick 4th or 5th so have a decent shot at Hughes based on the above

Based on the above, what would our best option be if we draft 5th

You have to remember the above is a ranking not a mock draft. And ignoring the lottery. I am fairly certain with the Eichel situation that Buffalo will pick a center. Guessing Seattle will also go offense. So Devs should have a pretty good Dman to select. And they should select the one that best fits team needs, at that point RD=Clarke and LD = best available. That would be a nice start to the draft. I think the Islander pick, depending on how playoffs go and after Yotes forfeit is #19. So that will be a real interesting slot to see what falls to us. I don't see Fitz trading up, but trading down possible.

He's pretty much as advertised/expected. Very solid shot, sneaky playmaking, but is a passenger at times. His impact on the game essentially lives and dies on his teammates sticks, as he cannot drive play at all. He needs someone that is very good in transition, which they don't really have in Binghamton. That's the same issued he had in Sweden. When he played with Josefson or Eklund, he was essentially elite and scoring at a high rate. When he played with guys who couldn't get him the puck or even get the puck in the ozone, he was invisible

I expect him to just be flat out better playing in the NHL with Jack, Nico, or Bratt than he will be playing with anybody on that Bingo roster. Hell, him playing with Boqvist would be better than anything currently on Bings roster

And as everyone knows, he is adjusting to new rink size, new country, new teammates, being away from home. This is a great experience for him, and better for adjustment period now then at the start of next season.

Absolutely. I definitely preferred him coming over and getting games in instead of staying home and preparing for the World Championships. I think we're going to see a lot of Holtz with Jack in training camp/preseason games if there are any, they're going to give him every opportunity to make the team
