Carol Schram: Hoglander scores 2; Canucks beat the Jets but are eliminated from playoffs Rookie Nils Hoglander led the way with his 11th and 12th goals of the season as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Monday night. But despite the win, the Canucks were officially eliminated from the playoffs as the Montreal Canadiens picked up a point in their overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

No sense in watching the team win now that Gadz isn't playing.

Don't know anything about Montgomery, but AZ fans hated Tocchet as much or more than we hate Green.

I would put Van fans as a more knowledgable fan base than AZ.

Montgomery was Dallas till his drinking problem came to light, now sober asst coach in STL.

Or just re-sign Green.

Hopefully Green and his entire staff walk. I actually like TG, but I think his assistant choices and team systems just aren't working. Get rid of the lot.

If the Canucks are truly on the 12 year rebuild plan I guess. He has never got the players to play the game he describes for more than a single period in a hockey game in 4 years.

Individual skill will compensate poor coaching decisions to keep the team in mediocrity.

Green is a mastermind, letting him walk will be a BIG mistake.

Oh yeah, thanks Carol.

Their inability to play well in the second period for his entire tenure says a lot, too.

Wasn't really wrong. 12 more wins than the previous season. It just wasn't sustainable for more than a year. 4 years of missing playoffs would be a very short rebuild. Then back into playoffs. Now a victim of his own intelligence again.

Green is a solid coach, I'd be happy to have him back at a reasonable salary. Otherwise Cull seems more than ready to take over. Look at how well he's developed some of them kids coming up through the AHL. People were writing off Gadjovich and now he's producing like a bluechip prospect.

Green got some pretty high praise in PO's last year from the media and sportswriters alike. Wasn't getting out-coached on a nightly basis when the pressure was on like AV and WD always did. I could see him back while FA allows Jimmy to fill out his vision for the club./
