based on the offensive skills disparity, Leafs should win in 4 games and by a 3-4 goals differential every game.
- Symba007

We all know that is not happening.

I bet the Habs are up 2 or 3 goals to open game 1. They will be playing like they have nothing to lose (they don't). The Leafs will be playing with the 4-playoff loss elephant on their backs.

The leafs have to hope they can overcome that pressure.

I remember when they signed him, and I knew very little about him - but I knew he was gritty and had scored 30 a couple of years prior. I wasn't excited, but I was cautiously optimistic, I suppose? It followed on the heels of that 4-1 loss to Boston, so I think the Leafs still hadn't generated enough optimism as a whole after years of losing and losing and losing. I didn't have a lot of faith in Nonis, so it definitely wasn't a wow feeling.

I do recall he had an interview where he said he loved Wendel and wanted to emulate him, and sort of having this mixed feeling right then - knowing no one was ever going to fill Wendel's skates in this town, and also knowing that he was putting himself under some really rough scrutiny off the get-go.

The other thing is that I remember reading an article, and it actually tempered any expectations I'd had - talking about how Clarkson had been used, and why it likely wouldn't be successful in Toronto. I was hoping for a 20 goal guy who at least was hard to play against. Wrong on all accounts!

- Monkeypunk

I'll admit it - I chugged the blue and white Kool-aid hard on Clarkson.

That's a good (frank)ing idea. Buying the s'mores elements separately takes up precious time. He should include a fire safety lesson in the kit.
- Zezel

Lol. I wonder if he does. I’ll ask him.
Since Covid, he sits on a lawn chair at my neighbours across the street drinking beer most days. Neighbour is an AC pilot and hasn’t worked since this poop started. They just hit me up for fishing gear, tips, tricks, etc etc this past weekend because they are going on a fly in fishing trip. The two of them making S’mores in the vast wilderness together will be cute. Franker is 6’5” 250lbs and asked me if I had a bug suit that would fit him. I told him to try Fabricland. Lol.

Montreal had one.

What the hell. I gotta act on these ideas.

An anatomically correct Nylander robot that dispenses soft serve when the Leafs score. Patent applied for you (frank)s.

I have an idea for a hair salon with hot chicks who also give you a lapdance/handy while they cut your hair. It would be called the cut n tug, or the snip and grip, haven't decided yet. Everyone would love it.

I hate this idea, because my wife will ask why I'm getting a haircut two days in a row.

When Bogo is healthy to play, I wonder if Keefe will pair him with Hutton? Then we have Holl and Muzzin. Two tough sets of D men. Might get interesting. Although I can't see Dermott coming out early. Plus he's got a bit more offensive mindset too.

Oooh, some really good quotes here, courtesy of Kristen Shilton:

https://www.tsn.ca/kriste...on-task-at-hand-1.1638504

“I'm just going to focus on the Ottawa Senators here today,” said coach Sheldon Keefe after Wednesday’s morning meetings. “If I answer those questions [about Montreal] now, what are you going to ask me for the next eight or nine days before we start playing? It's nice to know who the opponent is going to be, but we didn't even bring it up or discuss it [with the players] this morning.”

“I'm sure [the series is] going to create a lot [of buzz], but we have two games [left],” said Mitch Marner. “I’m not going to talk about the series until the series [comes about]. I don't really want to look ahead too much. We've got to make sure we play these two games hard and focus.”

“It's the Leafs versus the Habs. It's everything you want in a playoff series I guess,” said Travis Dermott. “We've played them a fair amount of times and got a good feeling there, but we want to take these next two games in stride, really focus on the things that we think are going to be important once playoffs come, make sure we have those areas dialled in, and really make use of these last two games.”

"Our guys are going to go here today," Keefe said. "I'll probably manage the minutes a little bit differently than I would in other types of games but at the same time, it's a good chance for us to really work on our four-line game and we're really looking to get things moving with the entire group."

“The guys were happy [to clinch], but you could just sense that there was unfinished business,” said Keefe. “They knew that was part of the process but that's certainly not the goal. We've had a couple great practices here leading up to today. It's been very businesslike in terms of our approach. There are two games remaining on the schedule and there's an opportunity for us to continue to climb in the league standings. That would be motivation for us to continue to push here.”

Whether it’ll be Campbell of Andersen manning the net in Game 1 against Montreal is yet to be announced. Right now it’s enough for Andersen and his teammates that he’s healthy enough to get back in at all, and potentially giving the club options for what’s ahead.

“He's a big part of this team. He does a lot for us when he's in the net,” said Marner. “We know what kind of goalie he is in that net for us and what he brings to this team confidence-wise. He's grinded, he's worked his butt off to get back into the shape where he thinks he's the best possible goalie he can be and we're excited for that and we're excited for him.”

Lol. You’d be near the first to taste test this can’t miss idea. I’m freaking serious. My neighbour a couple houses away was/is/was a fireman. A number of years ago while camping with the family, he came up with the simple idea of packaging all of the ingredients to make S’mores. A franking S’mores Kit! He sells it to grocery chains all over. He said he hasn’t really worked in the past 6 years. He’s like 40 something.

Bear in mind . . .he SAYS this, but he knows as well as anyone that just like the Leafs - with EVERY loss, the media goes out and buys another giant handful of nails to pound into the team's coffin.

It's the same crapfest for both of our teams: So you have 0% chance of winning? You best not lose if that's what you think, loser! Now put on your big boy pants so that they fall down faster when you're getting spanked!

- Monkeypunk

This is why Covid has to end before Wednesday. The two rinks would be insane to be part of.

Who loved the Clarkson? Even a little? Or longer than one shift in the first preseason game?
- Woderwick

I remember when Clarkson demanded the Red Wings players to stay away from the Leafs water bottles. Intangibles man. We're talking about intangibles.

I don’t notice stuff like that till someone mentions it to me, then I see it everywhere.

I had a guy reach out to me a couple years ago asking for support for a fund raising event for kids. No problem. He told me who he was, what he did, and the company he owned. I’m like, nope...never heard of you. As a thank you, he said he was going to bring me a care package of products he produces and sells. He shows up at my office with a huge box of goodies. Like crazy how much he brought. He heads on his way. I open the box and see all of this Bos Smoked fish product , all kinds of stuff, Salmon, trout, herring, whitefish, mackerel etc etc.
BOS....nope, never heard of them. Stuff was amazing. But since then, I see that stuff freaking everywhere, like every grocery store, and I had never noticed it before.
