I think the Globe reported yesterday that the AZ was becoming less important in terms of supply anyway and that they were looking at studies about impact of second dosing with Pfizer or Moderna after first dose of AZ.

Basically, today’s announcement is that we have enough of the other stuff anyway so why bother with AZ going forward

Because Vrana is an RFA, he likely signs for less than Mantha was making, and he might be a better fit with the Wings. Certainly he's looking like it. That said, Mantha has every potential to be the type of guy the Caps like. He's big and strong. Maybe being around the Ovechkin and Wilson and Oshie style will bring out some more meanness in him. Both teams can win this trade, but right now it's a complete steal for Detroit and Washington has given up a lot more than they have received.

I imagine he signs for less but not much less (5M?). The other part of the equation was dumping Panik who has 2 more years on his contract @ 2.75 AAV, is trash, and softens the Mantha cap hit.

I feel like the 1st rounder was an overpayment but I don't see this trade as being a "complete steal" unless Mantha completely falls apart in the next couple years.

well I think the feds are still expecting a delivery, but the supply is insecure so I am guessing they are reluctant to give more people a 1st dose.

that's fair.. So far, he's been ok.. I just think we'll see a lot from him in these playoffs..

The number of cases increased from 1 in 100,000 to 1 in 60,000, there have been some supply issues and they have lots of the others rolling in.

Animal trials showed better results from mixing vaccines. Makes intuitive sense to me; give the immune system the instructions to recognize the Rona in two different ways. It's like smoking two different kinds of weed gets you more ripped.
