But, I got to thinking about the comments we have been hearing over the past week that nobody in the North Division would want to play the Sens in a 7 game series. The Sens are big, fast, skilled and they like to hit.

So, looking forward to next year.

Only way I see Toronto losing is if Price somehow goes back to his Vezina calibre form.

Mtl is in for a difficult time. They ...dislike tor as much or more then ott. If they use that hate and put their work boots on , i give them a 40% chance.. andon top of that if price shows up stellar, i give them a 50/50..... have to admit though would love to see a edm vstor , 2nd round

Yeh the dark days of melynk and teardown seem to be behind us. Its hard to give 100% trust of success after 5 years of tire fire ... but most looking forward to next season as well,really hope there is fans inside., and hopefully the main discussion of draft picks becomes a side order

Aside from the younger guys taking big strides, one thing to note is that the Senators were the only team in the league to not have lost via shutout.

To further that, listening to other North division feeds on the radio (NHL Network feeds), most broadcasters admitted that playing Ottawa was not going to be an easy win.

Great contract that is reflective of how the teams cash balance will grow after fans are back in full. $2.5M cap AAV is awesome even if it does take him to UFA years.

It seems like quite a good deal for both sides. Zub gets maximum playing time opportunity on a team that's rapidly improving, which should make him a relatively attractive UFA in 2yrs time. Senators get a pretty solid RHD who can handle top-4 minutes until the likes of Bernard-Docker or Thomson are ready for that role... not to mention the natural chemistry he's established with Brannstrom.

As you noted, there's even a $1.75M/$3.25M payout split, to accommodate what will likely be another low-revenue year in 2021/22.

It's too bad about Hogberg, because he seemed to be trending well heading into the season, but he really missed his chance to step up. As for the distribution of G next year, it depends a lot on if the taxi squad concept will carry over to next season, and whether Seattle picks a veteran F or young G. Assuming Seattle picks someone like Tierney and there is a taxi squad, I'd expect something along the lines of:

NHL - Murray, Forsberg
TAXI - Daccord
AHL - Gustavsson, Sogaard
ECHL - Mandolese

If they pick one of Daccord/Gustavsson, then I think everyone below that just moves up a rung, with Mandolese moving back into the AHL.

What a great pickup this guy is. He’s made every guy he’s played with better. 2.5 for a second pairing D-man. That’s great. Not only did we get this guy for free, but he made a negative asset (Reilly) into a positive one.

I think Forsberg is headed to Seattle or another team. The signing did not make a lot of sense in the last week of the season unless there was a larger plan or purpose to come into play.
