Blash fits the bill for an adequate coach for the next 2 yrs. No sense over paying for a coach right now as Blash will also be more reasonable on the over-stretched budget.

As far as grabbing a coach from the pool, no thanks. Look what’s out there Babcock, Torts, Boudreau, Tocchet, Gallant and now NY is talking about Messier (with no experience)
The Coach’s mentioned have experience but may have exhausted their days in the NHL. I couldn’t see any of them running the Wings program right now. It’s hard to tell where Stevie is headed with the Coaching but he is old school with means and methods so I believe Blashill is staying for now. Detroit has never been a turn around place for coaches to my knowledge. Some say bring in Gallant, i say the teams not ready for him and there’s something behind his character that keeps him from grabbing a job right now. The Wings are a young team that still need to gel, that takes time. When i read what’s happening in NY today with Messier’s name being thrown around, come on. The Rangers have built something now everyone wants the credit, that won’t happen in Detroit. Some ex-players can run a team and some can only play the game, not every ex-player like Rod Brind’amour will have success stepping into the NHL coaching role.

Update - Christian Djoos signs in Switzerland. Yzerman may have let him know in exit that there wasn’t a guaranteed slot(?)

I don't think Gallant doesn't have a job because of a character issue. The problem is he was getting paid 5+ million and if a team signs him he loses that so he likely was asking what he was getting paid by Vegas. I think his deal runs out now (end of this season) so he likely will take another job this off-season. It's the same reason Babcock took a non paying job coaching...if he took a paying one he would lose his Leafs paychecks. Coaches that get hired right away are likely getting at least close to the same salary as they were or more...they are not stupid enough to throw away sure money to sign for less.

Man, he could probably get decent $ as a backup in Seattle. I’ll keep an ear out. Maybe retiring?

Brome is gone back to Europe

Now he has announced that he will go home to Europe and several clubs
in the SHL, according to information including Ă–rebro, Leksand and
Malmö, were interested. But it will be Davos that will be the new home
address for the 26-year-old. There he is reunited with his former coach
Jörgen Jönsson.
