Kevin Allen: Sabres shouldn't be in a hurry to move Eichel Teams don't usually receive fair value when they deal a superstar

When should the Sabres attempt to move Eichel? When the NMC is active? At some point this can't turn into a Dom Hasek, or Taylor Hall situation where the player dictates where he can go, thus rendering a lesser return from other clubs.

As Kevin mentioned - the 6-year contract gives the team a lot of leverage if Eichel does not want to stay. He wants to move? Then he'll need to waive any active NMC.

Hall situation was completely different - he was on an expiring contract. He could wait the 2 months and go wherever he wanted. Eichel has no such option.

Great article Kevin as usual.

I have a feeling Drury has been instructed by Sather and Dolan to make an immediate impact on the Rangers roster whatever the cost.

Getting Eichel fulfills the Rangers new "Win Now" mantra. Drury will overpay significantly and make an offer Buffalo would be foolish to refuse.

For the Sabres to accept any offer, the other team must overpay. There will be multiple bidders. Any team that low balls will be out.
