I got banned for like 4 days, I’m back!! Can’t believe I was banned compared to what others say on here. If someone reports you do you automatically get banned?

That PLB and Laine trade really didn’t work out for either team , I’d much rather have Laine still. PLB looked horrible all playoffs, seemed like he didn’t even care.

I would sign Laine if it were for a reasonable contract since he would surely help our PP, but I doubt he would do such a thing at this stage of his career. Sorry you were banned BTW.

To be honest some of the moderators let their personal feelings dictate who gets banned and who gets a pass. They act like real Divas.......

It would take a trade as well right, is he now an RFA or did he have one year left. I would like to sign him as well, what’s reasonable for him? He bet on himself and I can’t see him getting much more than his current contract. Maybe mid 7s.

Yes Laine is a RFA. His previous contract was for about $5M per so he will be due a good bump up, probably like you stated somewhere in the $7M range. Plus Columbus holds his rights so if does not want to resign I am sure plenty of teams will be bidding for him. I don't know if I would want to pay Laine $7M per, given he is a dog most nights out there.

Don't see how much value he adds playing 10 minutes or less a night.

I see what you're saying, and agree for the most part. PLB looks like a complete dog and despite having obvious skills my opinion of Laine is definitely trending down right now too. But don't forget that Columbus netted Roslovic in that deal as well. I think he's going to be a nice player, and was surprised to hear that Winnipeg essentially threw him into the deal. So even if the two divas wash as not working out for either team, at least the BJs came away with something in Roslovic

Very true, roslovic looked good there, forgot about him. Some nasty highlight reel goals too .

I posted this before, but basically here is what I would at least try to do.
1. Get Seattle to take Jake. This means cover some salary (e.g. $1.5M per season) and sweeten with a pick or mid level prospect.
2. Trade JVR and Ghost. I think both have trade value now. In return try to get a legitimate top 4 (not necessarily top pairing) defenseman with size, smarts and grit.
3. Sign another legitimate top 4 defenseman FA, like Adam Larsson
4. Sign 2 mid level FA forwards that inject speed, skill or grit into the forward group (e.g. Schwartz and Saad/Foligno)
5. Sign a backup FA goalie (e.g. Frederick Anderson, Raanta) to augment Hart
6. Resign Morin as a bottom pairing defenseman that can give you PK time
7. Leave roster spots for Frost, York and Allison to get a full season under their belt.
8. If there is no real trade value, resign Patrick to a 1 year "prove-it" contract and let him earn his ice time. Otherwise trade him with Ghost and/or JVR, or use him to sweeten the deal for Seattle to take Jake and maybe not have to cover as much salary.

As I said, its easy to write these ideas down, but that is how I would approach it. I would go for depth and trying become tougher to play against versus trying to hit a home run on a FA like Hamilton or trading the farm for a player like Jones.

- jd250

Easy to say, so who is going to trade for one of them?

he's not a good player and regular season stats don't count.

He gives you physicality, which this team desperately needs, and I believe Morin is a much better PK than Provorov or Braun. I can see Morin playing about 13-14 minutes a game.
- jd250

The season was over yet the coach didn't seem inclined to play him more minutes or use him on the pk I dont recall. Need your bottom pair to at least give you 15 imo. Morin didn't look like an nhl dman to me.

His first five seasons he was excellent in the playoffs with 53 points in 50 games, things have been on the decline or the past nine seasons though with 18 points in 35 playoff games.

I could easily see him having a strong playoff performance if we can turn this ship around. Crosby’s past 3 playoff series have all been sub par and they’ve lost all three series, doesn’t mean he’s cooked. Sometimes the team isn’t where it needs to be and it affects the top guys and sometimes the points just don’t come for a good player.

I agree with all of these type moves… except 1 big question, how does this do anything other than shuffle the cards? Is there a part 2 to obtain a true 1c and 1d? That’s a lot of work to get done especially in 1 off season and just end up same or possible worse or only slightly better. Not being an ass but curious if there would be anything else if they actually accomplished these things. I mean it’s possible as Seattle could help. So really only talking about moving 2 pieces and bringing in a couple mid level players.

It’s gonna get heated sometimes. Like you said you get a ban and others posting way worse attacks. Maybe they should give a warning first instead of going straight to a ban.

this is what I teach as a vanity metric, because it really has no relevance to the team as of today. What matters most is what can Giroux give this team today, right now?

So Oskar is a finalist for Masterton. I hope he wins. Marleau passed Howe though and is also a finalist.
