Must be rigged how else could NYI beat Boston when they have nowhere near the top level talent as Boston
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I don't know what Trotz does or says to his players but year after year it's clear that they'd all do anything for him. I've got so much respect for him and the Isles play in general. Must be nice!

It is Lou Lamoriello who hired Trotz, who signed Pageau, who traded for old friends Andy Greene, Palmieri (8 goals so far in post season) Zajac without giving up a fortune for any of them. 25 years later, he still owns the Flyers.

Yup....different this year....anyone one see an upset in either series next round?

Montreal might give Avs some trouble because they are so young. But Avs should prevail in 6 or 7. Vegas will steamroll Habs.

I would guess Isles Bolts would be close, but Tampa has a far better, more experienced D than Bruins. Tampa has a legit 2nd line. They beat a better Isles team without Stamkos last year. Kucherov is not mortal, the way he is playing. I would still say Tampa in 7.

Caps fans were pissed that they wouldn’t pay him upper-echelon money.

Cant blame them.

His teams play hockey. There is more to hockey than skill. Skill is a tool it can be used to benefit you but it can also be defended against.

Isles play hard, they forecheck hard, they are disciplined and they play well defensively.

The Flyers did none of this which is why they had a poor season. Flyers forecheck was non existent for most of the games only making appearances in the 3rd, they rarely played hard, they were not disciplined and we didnt play well defensively. In fact other teams forechecks feasted on us.

A lot of times goals were scored off turnovers and guys getting beat standing still.

Shots and shooting % are misleading stats. If you have 50 shots on goal, it sounds like you played well but if most those shots are perimeter shots, they werent dangerous. Flyers had such a high shooting % to start off the season because as frustrating as it was to see them pass up shots, they were picking their chances and not taking any of those low percentage shots. As the season went on, they were trying to improve shots and they took more low percentage shots.

If you watched the game last night, what you saw was an absolute clinic as to why you need real speed and grit to win in this league. The Islanders may not be the most skilled team, nor the toughest team. They may not have great goaltending. But what they do have is speed ... tons and tons of SPEED, and they used it last night to utterly stifle the Boston Bruins. The took away time a space, they trapped brilliantly in the neutral zone to create turnovers, and they defend perfectly in their own zone. The most impressive thing about the Islanders though is they are not a big or tough team, but they finish their checks very well, and they made the Bruins pay every time they went into the corners (just ask Carlo and McAvoy how they are feeling today). This is the model of how to play winning hockey in today's NHL, and as you can, its the exact opposite of how the Flyers play.

The Flyers are soft, slow and stupid. The Flyers run around in their own zone trying to play man on man (the Islanders don't do this BTW), they can't clear their own zone, they hit no one, and they have ZERO speed. I sincerely hope Fletcher was watching this series because now more than ever do I think the Flyers need to tank and do a complete rebuild.

If Patrick is being railroaded outta town, all he has to do is issue a statement that there is no truth to these rumours.
- PT21

Both him or the team can easily address this non issue.

Where is his agent fielding questions lol? Is this like a channel 6 news reached out but no one answered haha
- ClaudeFather

I haven’t seen any interviews of his agent. But Patrick was pretty honest and critical of his season. Said he’s behind the 8 ball. Not sure why’d he say that and also be demanding a trade. Seems he knows he has no value. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: why hasn’t anyone thought of the possibility Patrick’s former agent didn’t want to represent him anymore because he realized Patrick wasn’t getting a pay increase or better contract?

His new agent said something like he is still assessing the situation and will speak to the GM eventually.

That being said ASF is offering nothing but his opinion. Don't think it will have any bearing on fans "turning" on Patrick. His play will dictate that rather easily. This fresh start crap is nonsense. I do not deal himi at all unless you get 1st rd pick back and that aint happening. If he is total bust here so be it.

The best value we can get from him is keeping him and hope he finds his game again. Because it will suck if he does this elsewhere after a trade. Having said this, I would absolutely trade Him in a big package to acquire top D help. But we shouldn’t just ship him off for the hell of it. I had. A good back and forth with ASF on Twitter the other day. He was very, very defensive lol

Trading him in a package sounds good. However all he will be is a throw in in any such deal. Not any where near a main or secondary piece imo. He wont be a deal breaker or any deal I do not think.

So I keep him and figure it out here at least for 1 more season. The Flyers owe it to themselves to see what he can or cant do.

It reminds me of one of those "news" stories where salon.com will say, "according to sources" and link to dailykos.com. Then you go to dailykos.com and they are saying according to sources and link to thinkprogress.com. Then thinkprogress.com links to dailykos.com.

And all three articles state that multiple sources confirm.

The reality is that Fletcher didn't need to watch this series cause the Isles did this to the Flyers in last year's playoffs, but apparently Chucky failed to take notice. Basically the Isles did to the Bruins exactly what they did to the Flyers in last year's playoffs. This is why I have no faith in Chucky being able to fix things.

It will never happen, but would love sports journalists to be held more accountable. I wish players would rip into them more (in all sports) like they used to. That’s one thing I loved about Pronger, he didn’t hold back whatsoever with press. Even the best of the best do it. Adam Shefter did it to Carson Wentz with all these “sources” putting words in his mouth. The Guy didn’t say a single word for weeks yet endless reports about what he wanted kept coming out.

And for some reason this year the Flyers played well against the Islanders. But wow, last night, the Bruins looked a lot like the Flyers look most nights, like orange cones that the Islanders were skating circles around. And the Islanders were cleanly hitting everything in sight, and hitting the Bruins hard! This is the team I thought Hextall wanted to build but it clearly isn't. Lets hope Fletcher understands where the NHL is today and makes significant changes both on the roster, and his approach to drafting and developing. The broadcast mentioned last night that Garth Snow was the one who drafted and developed most of the pieces on the Islanders, maybe the Flyers should add him as a consultant.

From Sam Carcidi today:

Center Ross Colton, the pride of Robbinsville in Central New Jersey, scored a key goal Tuesday as Tampa Bay beat Carolina, 2-0, and won its second-round playoff series in five games. Colton, 24, a rookie who had nine goals in 30 regular-season games, was a former University of Vermont standout and a fourth-round selection (118th overall) in the 2016 draft. He was chosen nine picks after the Flyers took Connor Bunnaman, who has one goal in 39 NHL games.

I saw some twitter thread yesterday looking at all the Hextall drafts just 1st and 2nd round and it pointed out he didn't draft a single exceptional impact player. Pretty depressing

It is still way to early to evaluate Ronalds draft classes. They will all pan out in time. Need patience. He was after all the smartest guy in the room
