2 76 point seasons, and 2 more truncated seasons where he was well on pace for 2 more 70+ point seasons. Bergeron has had nothing remotely like that over so long, and he plays with far better wingers in their prime and is considered an all time great. Couts dominant in face offs, improved every line he is on. Great in analytics. Hardly ever has a bad game - not streaky, always consistent.

Maybe not a top 1 c. But he is not chopped liver either. Render unto Couturier what is due unto Couturier.

With that said adding in miles on his body and impending huge contract do you still want him over Hayes with all that pending?

200 foot player is the flyers favorite skill set ! It’s done wonders for us
- ClaudeFather
Well, if that's their favorite type of player I'd say that they have failed at putting this group of forwards together. I'd argue that Voracek, JVR, Giroux and TK(among others) are 100 foot players.

My order of preference:

1. Both go. Rebuild.
2. Couturier signed, Hayes gone.
3. Hayes signed, Couts gone.
4. Both stay.

Its all moot, since #4 is what we are gonna get.

I was speaking in hypotheticals.

I'm not sure but that would have been the cost to offer sheet Stamkos back in 2013 or so.

I think the compensation depends on the size of the contract.

- DrMidnite

I think the years/dollars talked about were 5y X 7M

I do not remember the cost of picks tied to AAV though

Not sure if it was already mentioned. Dougie Hamilton s interview. Love the quote. We lost to a team that’s what 18 million over the cap.

While yea I guess it was legal. It is one of the best circumventions I’ve seen. Also loves Lou. You want a first. No.

Watching the VGK COL game right now and I can't help but think how friggin far away from their game that the Flyers are. The pace of the game is unbelievably fast.

Coots 2019 stats 22g-37a
Hayes 2019 stays 23g-18a

Both played major role in pk and defensive game situations

Coots pp1
Hayes pp2

for sure there could be better targets, maybe they land the big fish. But he has 32 point if 52 games and if you have not watched him play you might want to.

Not sure he plays the right side but if he does he would slot really well with provy.

Yes 1c. Coots is average at best 1c but a great 2c he’s slotted wrong. Just like provy isn’t a 1a dman more like a 1b. Look at the top line centers in league. Where do you think coots ranks. I mean if we’re talking speed skill all that? Now look at the 2c on the teams and add the defensive play aspect. Coots top 3 2c in league. In 1c role he’s in middle of pact. Same goes for provy
It’s not a knock in them they are really good players but they are a tier below

nothing wrong with an average 1c, its better than half the 1c's playing

Look at league. Do any of the bottom half 1c’s have a realistic shot at cup?

You’re right. 2 years ago Hayes was way better. Last year played injured during fake season.

But you can see how green the Avs are still. Possibly the most skilled team in the league but they try to do too much. Twirling like dervishes, making the extra pass, passes just a tad inaccurate, getting rattled by forecheck.

Also, Vegas obstructing like crazy in neutral ice.

This offseason is important. Next offseason is really the pivot point for this franchise.

The Avalanche and Lightning should be the blue print. I really like the Isles but they will not beat the Lightning or the AVS or VGK. All three match them in intensity and defensive prowess . They outmatch them in talent and goaltending.

- mickel25

If you look at all the teams that are left in the playoffs, Vegas, Montreal, Islanders and Lightning, they are all fast, tenacious and have big defenseman that can move the puck. Add big as well to Vegas and the Lightning and you can see why those two teams will be playing for the cup. This is the blue print, no doubt about it.

What was really eye-opening to me during last night's game was how poorly Colorado defends, they were giving up chance after chance after chance. Vegas is a really good team.

Definately, I wondered why during the regular season when Flyers played the Islanders, how they get away with slowing the other team down, without interference being called. Trots has that down to a science, especially in the playoffs they dont call that stuff. Flyers aren't a slow team, but they often play slow. They didn't play slow 2 seasons ago

Hayes would only waive his NMC for one team I would guess, the Boston Bruins, his home town team. The Bruins will be loosing Krejci this off season most likely, maybe Hayes would want to move if the Flyers wanted to do so. They make around the same amount of money. However this would be a black eye for Fletcher, since this was his first real FA signing when he came to Philly.

I agree the Flyers play slow, but I also think they are a slow team. These Flyers could not skate with teams like Tampa, Vegas or Colorado for example; maybe on a given night, but not over a 7 game series.
