it's a damn shame that Hedman is going to win because that's just how they vote (fox didnt make the playoffs). Fox absolutely had the best season by a defenseman in every meaningful measurable way except goals - picklerick
Of course Hedman is going to win. Doesn't take away Fox's recognition though. |

Anyone read the article this guy Tam Bamford proposed for Eichel??
So a full package could look like:
Rangers receive Jack Eichel
Sabres receive Pavel Buchnevich, Filip Chytil, Brett Howden, Matthew Robertson + the Rangers’ first-round pick in 2021 (#15 overall)

if we somehow lock him up long term to only $7m per year i would be happy - picklerick
Rather try to keep the cost down for a few years, although I can see them locking him up long-term for lower $$$$ now.
Drury's big test. |

Still not sold on Eichel with the spinal issue. |

If Eichel was healthy or it wasn't a neck issue sure. I think there are too many pieces there but maybe I'm wrong. Granted if Eichel was healthy it likely isn't enough so maybe the value is close. |

I think that is actually a pretty reasonable package FOR A HEALTHY Eichel. But personally, I still wouldn't want us to pay it. |

Honestly I would do that trade if that is the center the Rangers decide to move on. To get him without giving up any of your top prospects or young players is a win. |

I would do that even with the injury concern.
Opens up the RW for Kakko and Kravs in the top 6. Also opens up a place on the third line for a “grit/physical” RW (who that is, tbd)
Chytil replaced by Eichel. Both have variables attached to them that could make them boom/bust candidates. Chytil in the form of development, Eichel the injury. Also slots Strome down to the third, where I think he will be even more effective.
Would suck to lose Robertson. I think he is going to be good. But we’re going to lose someone good one way or another.
I’m not a fan of trading the 15oa, but not going to lose sleep over it in a deal like this. |

I agree but I am worried because Schneider and Robertson look like they could be the next young versions of Suter/Weber.

Maybe sweeten the player pot to avoid the loss of the first rounder this year?
Buchnevich
Lundkvist
Chytil
In Lundkvist the Rangers send over what looks like a can't miss prospect but are dealing from a position of strength. He's also a little on the smaller side. They can use the 15OA to draft a center.
Or maybe target someone else completely? What would it take to get Sam Reinhart? He doesn't sound too happy in Buffalo. |

Fine, a poor mans version.
Just saying that their size would be welcome on the backend in the future and they have some significant praise being placed on them. |

Poor Nils, No love - Brukie
I actually had a qualifier in there to avoid this reaction. I left it out of the edit.
I don't want to trade Nils, but someone has to go. He's basically Swedish Fox. Could he be better? Maybe, but unlikely. I just view him as a slightly redundant piece. I hope he sticks around and fights for the Calder next year. It would be a great problem to have.
I would love them to keep all of the prospects but it's simply not going to happen. I just proposed a deal that would allow the Rangers to retain that 15th pick. |

Ahh Ok
My question is, would the 15th pick have a higher ceiling than Nils has? Trading these prospects is tough, we think they all have high ceilings, they all cant. I think waiting another season to see how they perform, unless it is for a center, is the right way to go. |

I'm not gonna disagree there.
It's not that the pick would necessarily have a higher ceiling. But it can hopefully be a center or another forward with decent potential to replenish the system after trading away those pieces in a hypothetical Eichel trade. |

if i'm a team trading with us and it's between Nils and the 15th pick i would take Nils every day of the week and twice on Sunday. |

My (flawed) logic for wanting to keep 15oa is to keep the cupboard replenished for 3-4 years down the line when we should be in striking distance of making a long run. That player we draft could be used to draw in the “final piece” or used as a cheap contract on the roster.
I actually wouldn’t mind JRR’s proposal. Losing Nils over Robertson & 15 is more palatable. |

i feel like our playoff runs have to come sooner than 3-4 years but i take your point on the picks |

Starting to think this way as well. Would like to see them all in camp this year but at this point I think I would prefer trading Lundkvist and/or Jones. Lundkvist probably with the most trade value (Schneider equal or close). With Fox here running PP1 and eating a ton of minutes with Lindgren, those 2 guys just seem to be a better fit. KeAndre and Trouba seem like a solid pair for the next for years too. Really like the balance of that 6. |

Fox on PP1
Trouba, Miller, Lundkvist, Schneider, Jones on PP2 (1st ALL Dman PP in NHL history!) |
