Agree I think he would be a good target depending on the money

3 x 5.5?

I know the cap is flat for the next few years, but I have a real hard time seeing him take almost a $2M pay cut.

I think he and BOS ultimately find a way to stay together, but he was quoted yesterday or the day before as being pretty unsure of what the future brings for his B's career.

It's going to be impossible to predict any UFA's contracts in this new flat-cap world so I'm not even going to take a stab at it

Not my first choice but there's not much to pick from with the centers available this summer
- mrn22

Personally, I think the perfect trade partner for us is Arizona. Making a trade for Dvorak, Crouse and Fischer basically kills 2 birds with 1 stone. We get a cost controlled 3C for a few years, and 4th line physical yet capable depth guys.

I dont think it will cost us a ton. Theyre likely to trade Kuemper and will be in need of a goalie so we can include Georgiev in the package, however he cant be the centerpiece of the deal.

I'm not disagreeing just saying that anyone paying him north of 6mil per is asking for trouble.

get excited Tony, Rangers will get a center this summer that will get you excited for next year. Who it is, no clue but you will be happy
- TPC

Totally agree. NO way Drury allows another season to pass w/out a big bodied center .

Yea, but he's still producing. Not going to give you much in the goal department, but he put up 44pts in 51gp.

True, I'm just thinking he might have to choose between term and his salary per year in that case. Does he want to have a 2-3 year contract or a more lucrative(amount per season) 1 year deal where he can then attempt to resign the following offseason?

Maybe not many center UFAs available, but there is always a deal to be made. Almost anyone can be had for the right price

NYR is in better position than most. Cap space and prospect pool are in great shape to use for a big center

Sabres really caught in a rock in a hard place with Eichel

we can make it look like they got a ransom for O'Reilly in comparison at this point

At this point Ill give them Chytil, a 1st and some fillers and nothing more.

However, my biggest concern is finances. In a flat cap, his contract puts us in a bind because nearly half of the core that were developing is going to need a new contract.

All I know is that the NYR are going to look a lot more like a playoff contender than they did last year. Especially, when Isles are playing their way into Stanley Cup Finals. That has a HUGE impact on Dolan and thus Drury.

This will be one of the biggest offseasons in NYR history

He's just under 50% in his 323 game career with the Rangers (49.6%), at this point I'm not so sure there will be a major improvement in those numbers. Maybe he ticks up for a season here or there, but I'd imagine his rolling FOW% will stay about the same over time.

That's not bad at all, but I'd imagine they'd benefit from having at least one center that you could put out there for a DZ draw when you need to win one.

Bonino is another guy that wouldn't be a bad addition and probably wouldn't cost a ton. I know nobody I mentioned is a marquee-add but they'd go a long way towards making the Rangers tougher to play against.

Ok, this is intriguing.
You guys know I am still not onboard the Eichel train.
But, if your above package is in the neighbourhood, do you think there's a chance we can sweeten that and get them to retain 25-30%?

Eichel's agent is Drury's former agent, if that matters at all

If we can get them to retain at least 2m as a sign of good faith because of the injury, maybe.

Not a chance we get him for 15 OA and Chytil plus some flyers. At the end of the day BUF still views him as an elite player in the league regardless of his injury. We’re saying hey, here’s a 21 year old most fans have given up on and a middle 1st pick in a so so draft for your franchise center.

Well, with the cap the way it is and his injury, hes not exactly a hot commodity unless they make it worth while for teams.

No one is gonna give up top end piece's for a maybe and if they are, it better not be us.
