He's stuck under his GF. Keep the right narrative alive.

And these things are more important than chatting with us?

Don't worry,, he's too old to have kids. He's supposedly doing a bathroom reno or something.

It's also the nature of the market if a guy sticks for a long time. In NYC unless you're winning in the playoffs, preferably including championships you might not last.

Yep 100%.

Messier obviously did not push hard enough for the job. Mark is just too shy.

I will always appreciate Messier but that would probably be a disaster. I would 100% welcome him as an assistant though. Can teach these guys faceoffs and being a beast.

I can understand the Rangers not hiring him. Very awkward if things go bad.

I mean, they basically told JD to go (frank) himself so I'm not sure they're concerned with ruining a relationship.

I think he's tired of us.

I'll be going on hiatus soon too. Coming back around the draft.

Good point. I mentioned on the Isles thread I would not have went into the Ranger season without toughness. Dolan is 1000% wrong but I thought it was a bad move by JD and Gorton when you play in this division and you have a physical Isles team as a big rival.

I think their hands were tied a little. They wanted to see what they had before making changes. It didn't go so well but I'm only upset about JD being fired. The rest is whatever.

Edit: plus the buyout money still on the books. Lots to contend with.

I would have made a push for Matt Martin. No idea if Matt was willing to leave though? Cannot understand why JD went back to the Blue Jackets? I would have waited for another opening instead.

Yea see my response above. Him not lasting long anywhere as a head coach is my biggest hesitation. Want a coach who is going to be here for the long haul of hopefully many years of contention with this new core.

That cluster that Florida saddled him with wasn't his fault. I would have called myself a cab to get out of there, too. He takes Vegas to the SCF and earns the Jack Adams. Not sure why McPhee got rid of him, unless he thought that when Deboer became available, he was a better long-term answer behind the bench.

I'm very pleased. I was initially thinking I would be happy with Tocchet or Gallant but after some talks on here Galllant really stood out.

I think we've said his name enough. He should appear soon.

How long is Vukota gone for? Sounds like he needs an alt.

Damn should have waited for Brind'Amour to actually sign the contract

Not really excited for the move but just going to hope for the best. Hope he brings that fast success like he did in Vegas

- TPC

Even if he decided not to go back to Carolina, Im confident the Rangers are not at the head of the list as far his choices go.
