Isn't there a first round type prospect next year with the same name? Luke Hughes I believe. Could be wrong. It is too early for me.

Edit: Never mind, just another Jack Hughes that plays forward. Gerbs, any relation to the other ones?

Gotcha, I just didn't know as he plays for the USNDT as well.. Weird coincidence, especially the timing of how they came along wouldn't have shocked me if they were cousins.

a lot of smoke out of los angeles...8th overall isn't a bad add for buffalo as they could pick up wallstedt in addition to the skater they pick up top

I was ready for Jack Eichel in 2015.

Who are we supposed to be ready for in 2029?

As I recall there's a story from draft day where Darcy and another GM who was slated to pick directly after him made a deal where they agreed to trade the pick if each team wanted a different player. They both wrote down a name on a piece of paper and flipped it over.

Wonder if the Sabres and Kraken could make a deal like that.

Sabres give the top pick to the Kraken (assuming they want different players) as compensation for the expansion lottery.

Kraken get to say they got their 1st overall pick

That was for Myers and Teubert.

That was a rough 1st round. Frankly it's impressive that the Sabres got two NHL players out of the first round.

We honestly don't need wallstedt we have 2 very good Goalie prospects and i'm probably the only one but cossa will be better

Lets just not pick a goalie in the top 10.... Not worth it. Especially if a guy like Guenther is still there.

I hope Detroit takes Wallstedt so we can't if we get 8th.

I'd gamble on Cossa with 33, personally. Gotta remember, these guys are years away. Wallstedt probably 2-3.

If Cossa is there, that should be the pick. That's a big if though

The Sabres’ debate at No. 1 will include three players from @umichhockey: Owen Power, Matty Beniers and Kent Johnson.

To learn more about each player, I spoke to the two goalies who faced them every day in practice: Strauss Mann and Erik Portillo.

Vibes of last year where none of us get our guy
