Disagree. Isle don't get any respect. Canes full of talented fluff, Cats arw very close, but not quite there. Isles got it going on.
- Michael Pachla

They’re a solid team but they are got the leagues worst playoff goalie in Jarry in round 1 and a hurt Rask in round two. I think Tampa runs them over but weirder things have happened

The Stars went to the cup final last year

It’s a new year sir

- Pegullaville

I'd like to point out that it's a TB/NYI conference final against. New year, same final two teams.

So if they beat TB, it'll be because something weird happened?

they won't beat tampa unless Vasilevskiy, Hedman, Point, Stamkos and Kucherov all come down with covid

Each series is its own story.

In round one Jarry made Hutton look like Carey Price.

In round 2 the Isles special teams won them a couple games they had no business winning and Cassidy didn’t even give his team a chance by experimenting with Halak/Swayman. It was painful watching Rask the last two games.

The Isles are a good hockey team and stick to their identity and I commend them for that.

They need to beat them first.

They’ve scored 11 goals on their last 58 shots to close this series

They scored 8 on their last 52 shots to beat Pitt

Do you think Vasilevsky is gonna go from a .934 sv % to about a .700 sv %?

They’re going to need to continue to get fortunate

it's the same identity that had them take down the cats 3-1 in the qualifying round, the caps 4-1 and the fly-boys 4-3 in last year's playoffs before losing to tampa in the conference final 4-2...

they're better than good...they're a back-to-back conference finals team who lost to the cup champion last year and face the defending cup champion again this year

i don't get it...they're fortunate because they put themselves in position for high danger chances and score on them? Or capitalize on turnovers? Or finish on breakaways?

isn't that what the lightning do?

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at here though? I don’t think anyone is saying they are not a good team.

They won game 5 getting out shot 43-19. Do you think they get away with that against Tampa?

idk...what i'm getting at is that people hate the islanders because they don't like their style or because they're not analytics darlings...they say that the cats and canes are better teams but neither of those teams have gotten as far as the isles in the playoffs the last two seasons...

if they win, there's always an excuse as to why they win and if they manage to beat the lightning which admittedly is a very tall task, it'll be because something weird happened...

hell even if they won the cup this year people would still berate them and say that it's every other team's fault, not because they deserved it

It will be one of or a combination of goalie, refs, or luck why we win. Made it past the 2nd round 3 consecutive years and the conference finals two consecutive years. Every team we’ve beat has lost due to all of these reasons. It’s “fate” or “luck”.

We lost our top goal scorer and captain before the playoffs and our best shot in Wahlstrom during the playoffs but we won because of other teams injuries

Not even close.

most of Europe literally pays $0 for healthcare. And can walk in to a doctor and get treatment the next day or two. here you have to live with every sickness because it take 6 months to see a specialist and they see you for 4 minutes and say "Take a pill" for that

Here we pay $100 a paycheck for insurance only to be told "Ohh thats not covered, sorry"

Here is a week vacation time though, that really we'd appreciate it if you didn't use"

You cant adopt a dog until a few months old, but if you have a kid you have to be back at work in 2months.

I have a good job, i get paid well, I like where I work, I wont pretend that this country works its population to death.

- ImThatGuy

Most countries in Europe also pays next to nothing for defense. If they had to pay for their own military, they wouldn’t have free healthcare. I agree the medical system here sucks, but I don’t want the federal government in charge of it. Have you been to the DMV lately? Government run healthcare will be DMV on steroids.

You should’ve just led with this because I had a feeling that’s where you were going with it.

Are you mad people picked Boston to win this series? Boston had a better record and better goal differential this year. So did Pittsburgh

They’re maybe the best coached team in hockey, they’re gritty, and they make you pay for mistakes. But they aren’t that talented and when they aren’t facing ECHL level goaltending, they have trouble scoring.

I don’t think analytics people have any type of anti Isles bias

So you think we’ve been running into a string of bad goaltenders and the refs have helped us for three consecutive years? How many more years and teams do the islanders have to beat in a seven game series when the “goalies” excuse run out?

We swept the Pens two years ago cuz goalies and refs

What are you talking about? When did I ever mention the last three years?

But you’re right, I’ll pick the Islanders to beat the team they couldn’t beat last year, won the cup, had a better record, and has ran through the first two rounds of the playoffs

Anything else would be total disrespect

I’m still confused as to why past years mean anything right now.

We are in 2021.

I could care less about what happened in years past.

The Isles got out played in 4 if not 5 out of the 6 against the Penguins in round 1.

Bruins we’re the better team in 4 out of the 6 in this one.

Isles bent but didn’t break. Good luck versus Tampa. I will be rooting for you because I think it’s a mockery how they are allowed to operate $10M + over the cap.

i really don't have a problem with analytics...but too many people have so many bubble in their brains and spreadsheets in their eyes that they really can't watch the game, or a team, objectively

Hey, everyone should’ve picked the 12th best team in the league to beat two teams with better records otherwise it’s some sort of “hate”
