Hey Boss

Remember last season when you went off on Dahlin saying he sucked scoring only 4 goals.

I suggested that the Coaching Staff had alot to do with it by employing a very conservative system that prohibited Dmen from carry the puck past the red line, rather were forced to transition the puck to forwards before that...stay back and play D.

You had a good antagonistic laugh at that suggestion and ridiculed me hard for it.

From John Vogl or at The Athletic:

"For the most part, Dahlin endured a hellacious season. Coach Ralph Krueger handcuffed the freewheeling defenseman, essentially prohibiting the offensive-minded Dahlin from carrying the puck or spending time in the opponents’ zone. Dahlin was stuck in his own end and watched goal after goal enter the net."

In your face my man. Turn in your season tickets, buy a 65" SHDTV and actually watch the game! Lol of course...all in good fun!

I’m thinking that ionlightening is pretty darn funny!

And yes max term Dahlin! Do it now on a “down” year. Don’t Reinhart the kid!

For twice in the last decade. Lock up young talent early!

I agree, although somehow going 3 years to keep dahlin a rfa and then 8 would really maximize the suffering to get him.

8 could put us in a prime contract spot like nate MacKinnon....

Let's be realistic, dahlins gonna want out within 3 years, if not already

Glad you took it so well.

Dahlin is Rhino all over again.
Who/what is Dahlin?

I'd go something like 4 or 5 for $6? But I wouldn't discount them going 8 x$8 either.

Would 4 or 5 years leave dahlin a ufa? 6 million per is fair.

Seems like the worst possible situation?

I dread an aho type rfa offer sheet that shortens his prime years in buffalo.

If we're moving out players like Eichel, Risto, Reinhart, Miller etc etc just lock him up 8x8 if they can.

You have to think dahlin's agent is going to want to sign / advise dahlin on a long term contract?

You're right, those terms make no sense. 4 years takes him to UFA.

Both sides should want a bridge deal here. 2 years @ 4m, give or take.

Vogl really believes Ralph is responsible for Dahlin’s poor offensive play. That’s a joke and so is Vogl. Dahlin is a gifted offensive talent that couldn’t and can’t play defence. Maybe Ralph was trying to help him by concentrating on his weakness rather than trying to focus on his positives. The idea he was held back by Ralph is ridiculous. The kid is good and will be great but he really needs help when it comes to defending.

if dahlin is the real deal
if casey and cozens are going to produce like nhl players
if quinn , peterka and our first rd pick in 2021 are legit nhl players

and if we get decent returns for eichel, skunk and risto

there is no reason why this team can't compete for a playoff spot in 2022-23 with average goaltending

I mean we have plenty of decent blue chip d prospects
a joker
a potential 30 goal scorer in olofsson

this team has consistently underachieved with past players, but if these guys are legit it shouldn't take another 3 or 4 years before we see decent hockey IMO

- homiedclown

Sure…. It’s possible
But your counting on A LOT of kids to produce right away
I’m just thinking they might need a year longer
Turnarounds that quick are rare

Um..... Did you watch the games? The vast majority of the players came to life when Ralph left. Dahlin and Joker were playing top pair minutes and both looked fantastic. Seriously, what were you watching?
