Pens need a goalie with the ability to steal a series and Halak and Mrazek are the 2 UFAs that can do that when they’re on.
- Feds91Stammer

I don't mind either goalie but neither of them have ever been able to hold a crease. Cool with either as a backup but certainly not who I'm looking to start the season with.

If we are just looking at really good backups for a time split, I'd just as soon look at picking up Jake Allen from Montreal. Not a great option but I'd feel better about him than Desmith or Jarry and Montreal is looking at losing him in expansion anyways.

You might have the wrong number.

No, they were having a higher than normal call volume, so I left my number. Luckily I won't lose my place in line, so I should get a call back soon.

I wanted to see what a Matheson/Bishop deal would look like and fully aware it's a highly unlikely scenario, but sometimes I just like throwing poop against the wall and seeing what it looks like. Anyway, this moron, who's right in his argument is just terrible at arguing and his defense was telling me the three other posters on the board would also tell me I'm wrong. I just find it amusing that these idiots really think them and their friends on there are true authorities on this.

Because they truly think they're authorities. I just found it hilarious that this dummy thinks it so much so that he tagged three other people to ask to validate his argument.

Jarry poop the bed.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I've heard. I also heard for two years Jack Johnson was the problem. He's gone and we still get embarrassed in round one. There is no quick fix for this team.

If we move on from Jarry, so be it. We're still going to be a bubble team that's going to struggle to get out of the first round. Changing goaltenders isn't going to change that. But hey, damn the torpedo's full speed ahead.

I don't think the Pens got embarrassed lol low expectations = low emotions from expected results, I guess.

The Penguins got embarrassed in 2019. They didnt get embarrassed this year. They were a deep team who lost in 6 games to one of the last 4 teams left in the playoffs.

I think there is no doubt we could have won the division. I do not see us in TB/LV/COL's camp yet as one of the elite teams in the league and honestly not sure we will again in the Crosby/Malkin era. I think the path forward for the Penguins has to recognize that:

1) We never really needed goaltending to steal us an entire series, but that will change. That's why I think we need an elite option this offseason.

2) We cannot count on Crosby/Malkin/Letang to carry us. All 3 guys are capable of playing at a high level, but I dont expect a circa 2009 Malkin vs Carolina series. We need legitimate talent around these guys who can take some of the burden off.

1) Well there was that one time in 2017. But mostly I agree about it being more important now. Not sure where we get it other than if we can trade for Gibson which I doubt. What do we have that a rebuilding team would want?

Feds Bishop suggestion may be the best option. Just might need to take some gambles that pay off to get to that level.

2) Unfortunately it's hard to imagine finding more elite talent when we are so poor in prospects and picks.

Both JJ and Jarry had embarrassing playoffs in back to back years. It's fair to say if either had mediocre performances, the Pens would have moved on from both those series. Obviously plenty of other factors were involved.....I'm not blind to that.

Most of us recognize the party is over, but I'll never fault the organization for trying to milk every ounce of fun out of the aging stars. Jarry let in 8 below average goals. I read somewhere that it was the worst playoff performance for a goalie since 2014. There's no way I'd roll into next season without another reasonable starting option.
