Again, so was Kessel... probably moreso. A team should be able to absorb one softie if they can flat out snipe the puck.

I do think that in the right system with the right guys around him he would be much less soft.

If you don't harden up playing for Torts, you ain't hardening up for anyone lol

6 untouchables on a team that hasn't seen the second round in 3 years seems a bit much. Should be just Sid, Geno, Letang.

I can see the arguments on it being very hard to replace what Carter and Rust do for their price. But if you actually believe your window goes beyond this year these guys don't help past this one.

I don't know if there is a Jake trade available I would make, but no way he should be considered untouchable.

- Tojo.

Pretty much entirely agree with this. Having a bunch of untouchables on a team that underperforms isn't the right strategy. Nobody is talking about trading good players for plugs. If Hexy is looking to shake up the team, he needs to offer players that other teams will value.

If I had to guess, Hextall and Burke will continue the "year to year" strategy. Keep trying to compliment the core with players they believe will be a tougher out in the playoffs.

This team needs a goalie in the worst way. That should be their #1 priority.

It's more about having some fun and respecting a coach than how hard they are. Columbus was not a hard team this year at all... Sometimes guys just need a good combination of inspiration and opportunity. He will get more of that from Sullivan than he would Torts.

Yea I'm with you. And honestly a better defense. So #1 work on what is going to happen with the goalie situation, keep Jarry and add a vet 1B or trade Jarry and bring in an upgrade. #2 Trade Pettersson or leave him exposed, Matheson probably isn't going anywhere. #3 trade Zucker or leave him exposed to add to the defense.

Rust, Marino a 1st and a prospect

To Columbus for:

Jones and Laine...sign them both to extensions...with Zuckers (and perhaps others) cap hit gone...

I dont want to lose Rust, I love Rust, but packaged in something like that I could digest his departure easier.

Similar type deal might be Rust & Marino to Minny for Dumba and Larsson Ek or Fiala. I'd be all for the pens finding a more experienced RH Dman and exiting from the contract given to Marino (4.4M/yr starting next year for 6 more) before he really earned it.

Maybe a rakell and Manson combo. They are both having a back to back down years, although on a pretty crappy team. Manson would add some size and grit to the back end while adding a bit more exp while Marino is younger and can grow with their young core. Then just gotta get Gibson while we are shopping on the west coast.

Yea I mean if we are trading with the Ducks, Gibson would be my #1 target. Maybe with the Burke connection they can come to a deal.

Gross, man. I love hockey too and that's why I'm watching this...but that's as far as it needs to go, no need to cheer on either of these fvcks of a team hahah

It’s more rooting against Boston than cheering the Islanders. But I do like the Islanders team. Cup wise I’m rooting for MAF.

He was hurt most of this year but yeah they both have had a down couple years. Otherwise wouldn’t be worth a Marino swap

Hahah it's known Rask isn't 100% and there was speculation they'd go with Swayman... Obviously should of.

Hard to get 4 goals vs these Isles and Varm hahah B's are done.

If New York played like this against the Pens it would have been a sweep.

Rask will probably miss the 3rd period due to his daughter having an emergency root canal

Maybe the Pens kept them from playing like this. Goal tending looks familiar however.
