Don’t worry, some Av’s fan is going through an emotional crisis as well.

We don’t know what Hamilton I’d going to cost. He is going to be the most pursued guy in the market and there’s a good chance a team a in better cap situation wants him just as much. Whatever convenient number everyone is plugging in is probably low. Planning your offseason around one iffy move doesn’t make sense to me.

The offensive problems I saw during the playoffs were a lot more fundamental than tertiary. I don’t know where that comes from. The team needs to play a lot more forecheck in their offense, they need to restructured their lines so that they don’t look lost at playoff time. That’s a higher priority to me than putting everything into one guy to improve a defence that was probably the part of the team that worked best in the playoffs.

No point in repeating my argument again so let's switch gears.

What I'd like to know is:

1. Who would you bring in to help make this team better?

2. Which 6 D-men do you run with next season?

Name some names, sir.

I'm surprised the comment police clowns who claim everything is didn't bring that up.

They're pretty quick to jump & label people unfairly without any evidence, but this... Silence 🔕. Flunkies.

I guess MacKinnon and Makar need to be traded
- drexel

Why? They both bothered to show up this playoff and actually made it past the first round along with Rantanen and Landeskog (all at or above a PPG).

Vegas is scary deep this year. Wouldn't be shocked if they won the Cup.

You know who else thinks Hamilton is a very good top pairing dman? Every GM in the league with more cap than the Leafs.

Rielly/Brodie were one of the few bright spots in the series against Montreal.

Hamilton is good. Point shot is good. There are higher priorities than going after the top UFA in the market.

- Canada Cup

Rielly will want a nice raise. Although he did have a decent series, im not opposed to replacing him.

How about we throw in a Rielly for Makar as well while we're at it.

Top dman should probably be the Leafs priority. Yes they need grit as well, but they still lack that high end dman, and they need to make the PP a priority. Special teams wins games in the playoffs as well.

You do realize he gets to choose where he goes, its not just the highest bidder. Sure a team could offer him more, but does he take a bit less to become a Leaf, its possible. Im not talking huge pay cut, and I still think he goes back to the Canes, but to not even try would be dumb.

I would rank Hamilton as the Canes 3rd best dman 🤷

Pesce
Hamilton

1. I don’t watch every team in the league or study Capfriendly so I don’t pretend to be an expert on who to trade for. Lots of people on here seem to have a pretty good handle on other teams and lots pretend to and throw names out.

What I think we need are some guys who can play a bit more of a forechecking game that would work better than the “possess the puck every second” approach that we used even if it meant staying outside or making bad passes instead of putting the puck in the corners and going and getting it. We were good at scoring after turnovers in the season.

Who we get is also a function of how much $ is freed up. Are we talking about Mitch is gone scenarios or Freddie, Kerfoot $.

2. So the one caveat on going D shopping that I was thinking about walking the dog was Rielly’s pending UFA status. One approach could be to push hard to discuss an extension now to see if they can get him in at a number they can live with. If not, move him now and make your D moves. Whether or not that’s Hamilton or not is still a question.

If he stays, Rielly, Brodie and Muzzin continue as the core. Maybe one of Holl or Dermott are off to Seattle. I’m not crushed by either loss. Sandin and Lillj deserve shots and I’d certainly offer Bogo another contract. So, there’s a pretty good starting point. Maybe there’s a different Bogo. I do think bringing up the kids is important.

Youd be wrong. I could see the argument for Slavin, as he's awesome, but not Pesce. He's getting a more then 6.75 gauranteed.

Pesce at 4 > Hamilton at 7

We don’t need scoring from the d core, net clearers preferred. Muzzin had 2, Brodie, Sandin and Rielly all scored on Price

i actually agree that hamilton isn't a top priority for the leafs.

hamilton isn't great defensively.

His NMC doesn't kick in for another couple years, and if you think Quebec doesn't have enough jorts, you should just delete your account and throw out your computer.

Sure, but none of them helped the PP, you act like Hamilton is some 5 foot dman, He's 6'6. If you look at the roster in order to get to a higher level you need to not only plug holes and add grit, but upgrade on areas where you might already be decent.

Hamilton would be the best dman on the Leafs.

Hamilton is getting almost 60% of defensive zone starts.
he's a top3 NHL D-man offensively, 2nd pair level defensively.
