Just sharing this to nobody in particular, but I'd rather spend cap space on Danault than Hyman.

Then you need another top 4.
Our D was actually good this year...ya I get it, they only played North division teams.
But they looked the best Ive seen in a decade or so.
Or do people think Sandin can replace morgan?

- Fakepartofme

They should be trying to get something done with Rielly now so they can plan one way or another.

I have a feeling that Dubas and Pridham and Shanahan already know what Rielly wants, maybe they make it work or maybe they trade him. I do think they already have a plan for Rielly.

He said that last year. He's going to sign with some poophole rebuilding team for as much as they will pay him.
- AdamFrench

I've always thought the smart thing for guys like this to do is sign a 1-year deal with a team that's guaranteed to not make the playoffs.

It means you'll be traded at the trade deadline to a top contender.

Kinda like exactly what he did this year.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Tampa.

Will this be the year the NHL actually makes them adhere to the salary cap?

Last 3 seasons

Nylander 173gp - 55g 73a

Hyman 165 gp- 57g 54a

He should get 4.5 - 5m I would think, 4 years would be a good # even though we could give him more as I’m sure he’ll be on LTIR before his contract ends.

But he can walk and we could sign another good player, so I’m good with that too.

Let Hyman go
Trade Rielly
Trade Nylander

Sign Hamilton

Someone else can fill out the rest.

- Garnie

this sounds nice but it will take 8~9.5 mil to sign him

now the Leafs will have too many guys make big coin and not enough for the supporting cast

If Tampa wins the Cup again, every teams should get to spend up to $100M and put "injured" players on LTIR

We'd still have Cap space.. Didn't he say trade Rielly and Nylander?

Losing Andersen, Hyman, Foligno, Nash, Thornton, Simmonds, Rittich frees up more space

I think Taylor Hall will be able to convince him that since he signed in Toronto for millions less, so should Hamilton.

Taylor Hall on his next contract: "I'm not looking to absolutely maximize value."

He noted that he's made some good money in the league already, and that a "good fit" might be the priority on his new deal.

"You want to find a home for the next few years."

I am absolutely not going to say we do it...but Hall does have a lot of ties in Ontario. His GF lives here.

But if he takes a pay cut do we consider it?

- Santo_44

I would certainly consider it depending on the pay cut he is referring to, hes not the answer for our issues, but hed help with secondary scoring.

2 out of the remaining 4 don’t have an elite d man.

Modern day Weber/Petry or Pulock/Pelech are not any better than Muzzin/Brodie

- Santo_44

Well Price kinda compensates for that right?
If Price wasn't there could afford an elite D-man.

Game 7 wrister was bad.

Game 5 he was shaky - but then locked it down and gave them a chance to come back.

1.6 million VS 10 million in goal. Campbell made the goaltending performances waaaay closer than they should have been.

- Leafs43

I know but we’re in win now mode are we just going to keep hoping?

- Fakepartofme

The leafs will either come back on a mission next year and take the next step or the defeat and lack of playoff success will lay heavily on them and they’ll be a piece of poop team and someone is getting traded.

I honestly don’t know which one it will be.

Leafs have like 12.5 million in cap space with like 7 players who need to be signed.

Cap situation is not great - Regardless of what Roger tries to tell us.

Rielly will want close

Lose Nylander at 7

Hopefully we’re not losing Rielly and just bumping Sandin to 1d and talking Marincin out of going to Czech.

As it stands, no it is not great... Leafs could move out salary though.. I think Rielly is the one to move.. I mean, he's a great player but he's not a PP1 guy and he's not the strongest defensively.

I could see a guy like him being moved

Is that a guy we can draft?

I've never heard of Frank Taylor Hall? Does he go by F.T. Hall?
