You isle's boys are sure having a time on the Devs page. Plenty of emoji's going on. Its a free world bud, but save the celebrating for the 16th win, your halfway there and it isn't getting easier. Personally, I would be happy to see Greene/Palms/Zajac hoist the cup, but sure am not betting on it. Goodluck vs Tampa, I hear they are pretty good.

I just realized how close that is to 20 years and I got real sad

God no. Lou can be amazing under certain circumstances and he is the reason being a Devils fan was fun for much of my life, but he was far from perfect. He found the right setting with the Isles. They may very well win this year (though I can’t really see them beating Tampa), and that would be cool. I’d love to see the former Devils get their names on the Cup. But regardless, it was time for Lou to move on when he did. Maybe past time. When he stopped being able to draft even semi-reliably, his positives stopped outweighing his negatives. Trots deserves a lot, maybe most of the credit for the Isles. Lou hired him, but I doubt he would have been interested in taking on a Devils team in complete disarray.

The Golden Knights will probably make the finals. I don’t think that means firing DeBoer as a mistake, either.

All the Devils fans that are “Lou Naysayers” seem to be awfully quiet today as the Devils’ 2021 draft pick acquired from the Islanders is going lower and lower to the 32nd spot as Palmieri and Zajac get closer to the Stanley Cup.

Weird baiting, there. Beyond the fact that it’s demonstrably false, and the fact that there would be no reason for “Lou naysayers” to say anything right now anyway, it’s a first round pick. Even if it’s 32nd overall, that’s objectively more valuable to the Devils than two players who would just be golfing now.

I don’t think it was a mistake for the devils but for the Leafs I believe it was. They were at a different stage of their rebuild and they’ll never admit it but firing Lou and hiring Dubas was a monumental mistake imo.
