Anthony Travalgia: With surgery upcoming for Rask, situation in goal takes interesting turn UFA Tuukka Rask will have surgery on his hip in the coming weeks, putting him out of action until at least January.

I like a Rask/Swayman duo, would be great to start the year that way but obviously not an option. Wasn't Thomas' injury a hip as well? Who knows, maybe we see a repeat where Rask takes the job back and finally get's his own Cup...one could hope!

You are correct, Thomas also had surgery to repair a torn labrum. He came back and won a cup

If the Bruins can negotiate well with Hall, Krejci and Rask on hometown discounts to build off this year it would ideal.
I am not sure the cap situation, but if they got;
Rask 4m for 2yrs
Krejci 4m for 2 yrs
Hall 5.75 for 5 or 6yrs

The money you save on Rask/Krejci pays for Hall.

The team still needs to get bigger/meaner on defence. I don’t think they need a top pairing guy, but a top 4 that can play solid defence and isn’t a pylon.

6 years is a little long for Hall, but his camp might push for that.

Krejci can do better than 4x2. On open market he'd easily get 4.5x3. Would he give up $5.5M to stay in Boston?

I would not go higher than 4 years on Hall with his overall track records.

Agreed. 3-4 will work for me.

I probably wouldn’t want to go more than 3 or 4 either. I’m wondering if they will have to go 6 mil a season for shorter term. Then it becomes a scary investment.

Krejci said today it isn’t about money. He wants finish his career in Boston. I don’t think Krejci wants to go somewhere that doesn’t have a chance at a cup to earn more money.

But I agree he could get more than 4 mil no doubt.

I think if Don becomes a salesman on Krejci/Rask/Hall and get value deals done he can pitch bringing in a dman.

Definitely need a big (but mobile) D-man. Even MacAvoy had trouble clearing the crease area.

Players say a lot of things. Have to wait and see how badly Krejci wants to stay.

6 million for Taylor Hall is dirt cheap.

Boston would be best suited retaining Rask on a reasonable contract. He says he wants to stay, and assuming hes willing to take a hometown discount, theyd be smart to keep him. Guy can still play, and he did so injured this year and was still pretty good.

That all being said, and wishes for Rask's health aside, I hope Boston comes 9th place LOL

I thought he signed for 6 last year, turns out it was 8 million with Buffalo. I’m not sure what he did last year to warrant anything close to 8 million.

Prior to him coming here I was largely very Anti-Taylor Hall. He gets hurt a lot and has always been on a losing team.

However in his short time here, I saw that he is a very good skater, carries the puck well, strong on his skates and this was the first time in a long time that he was on a team where he didn't have to be the man. I think he could learn a lot from players like Marchand and Patrice. Could be very good for him to be on a winning team. He does need to cut down on the defensive zone turnovers though. He had some brutal ones.

If he will take a discount to stay. Have to take the risk. They need talent

But what is that discount? Let's not forget Coyle is making $5.25M for the next 5 YEARS!

Lol. I like Coyle. He was disappointing these playoffs that’s for sure. Now they need another Taylor Hall 2.0 for his line.

Bees just didn’t get a big goal from Debrusk, Hall, Coyle in the Islander series. brutal
You would think a big Kuraly goal or something from the 4th line even. Just nothing...

In the 6 games, how many 5vs5 goals did Bruins get?

I think they goaled themselves out in game one.
I agree with Tachmo...something, anything from the bottom 6 would have been helpful.
