Nope. LA is already solid on their right side. Doughty will be the 1RD for the foreseeable future, with Roy and Walker solidifying the right in the short term, and Faber and Grans (and possibly Spence) in the longer term. It makes no sense for them to use up their major trade equity and a significant portion of their available cap space for a guy that tops out at 2RD for the next 5 years. That's assuming he re-signs in the first place. Jones has already said he intends to explore UFA next summer, so the Kings would have to give up a pretty large haul for what could be another Lucic-type situation.

If the Kings are going to trade major assets to acquire a defenseman, they'd be better off asking about young quality LHD like Chychrun, Werenski, or Sergachev. I'd give up the #8 and Turcotte for any one of those guys.

Also, I don't know what you're talking about when you say Drew Doughty is an offensive defenseman. He's absolutely not. He's one of the better two-way defensemen in the game, with this defensive game being superior to his offensive game.

His numbers have taken a hit over the past several years because the Kings are terrible. If you're the best defenseman playing on a poor team against the opposition's best players, your numbers aren't going to look good. However, he has more defensive zone highlight reel plays than any other Kings defenseman that I can remember, especially this season.

Doughty is in the same category as defensemen like Duncan Keith and Shea Weber, while Seth Jones is more like a P.K. Subban or Erik Karlsson.

No, The Kings are on the right track, I would try to sign Jones but I wouldn't trade for him.

Yes, I agree that he's just what the defense corps needs to help Doughty with the tough minutes. He's one of the few players that I'd trade the blue-chip pieces for. I'm not sure that he'd agree to a sign and trade, though, because he may want to be the #1 and go to a better trade. I would explore it, though.

I wouldn’t trade for him. Get a wing or LD instead

Jones is a good defender for sure,no argument.if it was a sign and trade scenario and depending on the pieces going back to cbj,I would be all for it.a 1 yr rental does us no good, even with the surplus cap space to dip into free agency we have,I don't believe we can ice a contender team.and a 1 and done doesnt make sense if you ask me.

Those are 3 very good defensemen!!! Would be happy to have any one of those 3 under contract for long term, and to acquire such talent takes a good offer of players, picks, prospects.im on board for that move to fortify the backend.

NO! And not because I dislike Seth Jones. I like Seth Jones, but if they're going to make a big trade it's got to be Eichel.
