Why waste a buyout on Holtby? His contract expires at the end of the season. He'll have some value as a depth pick up at the trade deadline being an experienced Goalie with no term.

I have a hard time seeing any team giving up assets to obtain Holtby at any time . He was not good last year. I actually liked the signing at the time but that went sour quickly.

I was wondering after listening to drama guy Dahliwal say this is going to make two years in a row Canucks let Quinn Hughes partner walk.

The poll they ran had over 800 votes and it was very close to a 50/50 split about should Canucks sign Hamonic .

He is going to want probably 3x3 . Doesn't that make it a contract very similar to Roussel Beagle Pearson?

Will be interesting to see what management thinks

I find Myers to be excellent in those situations

The point is he's completely off the books at the end of next season. That is where the value lies. A buyout costs us 1.9 mil cap hit the season after next. You can waive him to the minors for less long term impact.

I would like to see Canucks bring Chatfield back for 3 years @1.2

I like Hamonic but I am not going to be upset if they sign him or let him walk. If you can't find someone to replace him your team will suck anyways .

I have a feeling he is being bought out even though it cost more. We will see .

I don’t see it.

I know about his cap hit the following year but I also know the only big signing is Brock and Canucks should have more than enough to handle that.

I don't want to lose a piece I want to add this year because of a small blip next year.

Not sure why everyone is so focused on huge upgrades on the forward group, when the Canucks have one of the worst defense group in the league.
- Reubenkincade

Need RHD & resign Hamonic. Difficult to get both done so leaves it next up to the top 9.

This how the numbers work with realistic shuffles. LE remains waived. LTIR kept on Beags & Rouss. Krak deal to take Holtby/buyout. Added 2 UFA RSD.

I just don't see it happening. We're trying to get out from dead cap space. Taking on more dead space during the flat cap hurts potential future roster growth beyond Boeser.

It is really not taking on more in fact they are losing 1/3 of his salary. You are spreading out his cap hit, but you already knew that.

If Canucks have a chance at a very big addition I would like to see them go for it. They could pull a TBL scam and put him on LTIR

Why do you think the LHD is good?

I think Canucks need upgrades everywhere. I am not complaining but the bottom 6 needs help the top 6 can use another player . Both sides of the D need an upgrade and they could use a reliable back up goalie.

What would it take to get Dumba?
Let Edler walk and have our defense be

Hughes/Hamonic
Schmidt/Dumb
OJ/Myers or Rathbone/Myers

Those who think Canucks can't make big moves to go after high targets this off season are wrong. The numbers prove it after bridging stars and cap shuffles that don't require expensive trade cap dumps. JB stated Canucks empowered to do.

There are high end UFA and Trade options. Possibly an e-draft opportunity. If none of it works then plan B make minor roster filler moves until LE and Holtby plus recapture are gone. Then reload and try again next off season.

I understand the thought behind it but you just have to look at TB who spent 98 mil last year and will still win the Cup this year. More and more teams are finding ways to misuse the cap.

Chicago will gladly take your bad contracts on for a price because they have moved out their bad contracts on LTIR

Beags and Rouss are legit LTIR listings. Holtby is moveable. LE they ran out of time on to Utica him out. He hasn't shown he's Luongo loyal to his team. So leave him waived keep Swedish rep positive. Next season no shuffles needed and recapture gone.

So this off season go after top line players don't waste cap term on middle players. Plenty of 1 year contract min options if you need to try again next off season on the big player adds.

This is the 2 yr managing/coaching window Canucks are going with to contend. Step 1 staff augments made. Step 2 Bridge stars prior to draft. Step 3 wheel and deal.

Cannot fix everything all at once.

Fixing the top 9 & team D is my 1st choice. Getting 1 top 4 RHD can also be accomplished. LHD is deep but very young. Riding out last year of Holtby is fine.

I don't think Hughes Rathbone and Juolevi is deep at all.
