No shot he signs for 7.5. Rich or not he’s not leaving 10 mil on the table and there’s at least 5 teams who would pay 10 at four years in free agency. Even in the flat cap

At this point, he would be smart to do that. The Caps are an older team in decline. If Ovi wants to beat 99's goal scoring record, Be the first and only player to reach 900 goals and win another cup or two. He's going to need help and the team is going to have to get younger to support that.

His best option would be to take a bit less in order to allow the team to win.

At this point, he's already rich, what he should be caring about is finishing his career strong and his legacy.
