Bill if the Caps left TJ Oshie unprotected would the Flyers have any interest in acquiring his services in your opinion?

You say go all in for Jones. What is the max price you would pay in terms of player/picks/prospects.

Dougie Hamilton checks all the physical requirements but I wonder why he can't stick with anyone long term?

3 years in Boston. 3 in Calgary and for those playing the home version, you guessed it, loos like 3 in Carolina.

Jones is good but IMO he ain't all that. I won't however pitch a fit if they get him. Just hope it's not an overpayment.

Bill will correct me if I’m wrong but in the podcast I believe he said the Jones deal would require something like:

Konecny
Sanheim
2 firsts
And possibly a top end prospect like Cam York.

I said a combination of elements, not all of the above. Basically, two NHL roster players (one of which would be a defenseman) and one other element: 1st round pick, high-end prospect, etc.

I have been a big fan of Schwartz on the Flyers. He is still young, he is a good player and most importantly, he will inject speed into the lineup. I also love Alec Martinez, who despite being 33, is still a legitimate top 4 Dman that this team needs. I am not a fan of Oleksiak unless we decide we want him over resigning Morin. Signing these 3 players would make the Flyers better, but again, it comes down to freeing up cap space to make it happen.

I am also happy to read the Flyers are not players right now for Hamilton, I really don't think he is a fit for this team. He is soft, and I don't like soft defenseman. I can live with Jones, but I would rather have Larsson, who will cost less in terms of both money and assets, and again makes the Flyers a harder team to play against.

First off it wouldn’t take all that…
Second no one would pay that

Finally that’s why it won’t cost all that for Jones.

Pronger was young and immature in Hartford and Brendan Shanahan was available. Thrived in St. Louis. Was not happy in Edmonton. Anaheim was a contract extension issue. But for injury, he might have spent his entire post-Hartford career with the Blues.

Agreed, there is no way Columbus gets everything listed before. I think something like Frost, Myers and 1st round pick would get it done, however Jones would have to sign a contract with the Flyers before I give anything up.

I've wondered about that too...there is clearly a market and demand for a guy with his skills. There must be something else about him (personality?) that wears out his welcome everywhere he goes. I can't think of anything else.

Myers, Patrick, 1st, prospect not named York.

For a guy who will leave for free in a year. That’s a steal for them.

Maybe Dougie was young and immature in Boston. Maybe he didn't like Calgary. Maybe Carolina is an ext issue.

As I said its a non story about Hamilton being on several teams already.

Reasons aside Pronged also moved around. It isn't a big deal.

Personally, I think the cost to acquire Seth Jones would be worth it. The team needs a big, mobil first pairing defenseman like him. Sanheim can be replaced if he's included in any deal.

I think the idea of paying players signifant money into their mid-30's is a recipe for disaster. It is Ok to have 1 or 2 but when you get 3+ you run the risk of losing younger assets. Plus the Flyers cap situation is a little more precarious than people believe. If their younger assets rebound they are going to require signifcant raises AND if the do not rebound it really does not matter who they sign

Yes, Hamilton is SOFT! Come playoff time all those great numbers mean nothing! That is why is on his 3rd team.

I am ok with S Jones, I read an in depth article on him and how the right partner makes him that much better. SJ prefers to defend first then go to O. I do think he would pair near perfectly with Provy. That said, seeing a TK and a Sanheim plus walk out, leaves holes on the O and D. Any pick in the deal will probably be conditional on SJ resigning.

I think York could attempt to slide in for Sanheim. Tk is another story, if you are trading him you need to get a better him back by adding to the deal. TK brings speed, skill and grit, the Flyers don't have enough of any to be giving it away.

I guess I would look at Larson and Martinez prior to breaking the bank.

“do, however, think that the Flyers could benefit from getting a little faster, a little bigger/grittier and adding another capable scorer.”

Schwartz is a good player but brings almost zero of wht this team needs to the table. No size. No grit. The two most important things for this horrendously soft team.

Schwartz, TK & Farabee are almost the same exact player.

Schwartz a good player. Not even remotely close to being a good fit for this team. Hard pass!

Joel Armia is more of the area flyers should look. Not as good as Schwartz but more of wht they need currently.

No way package of Myers..Patrick and 1st gets Jones. You are giving up a Dman who had a terrible year...a forward who was maybe the worst forward in the NHL last year..and an unproven 1st rd pick...Going to cost you a proven quality NHL player like TK to start the package

Hamilton is not soft. He would be a serious upgrade for this team. What is Martinez going to sign for? Morin didn't look like a player the Flyers can count on in any manner for next season.
Why did you change your mind that Larsson is a 3rd pair defenseman who wouldn't help the Flyers?

They won't take Frost. They want an established forward.

Im totally good if they went with a martinez and savard signing, and keeping our assets. I'd like Jones, but it depends on what we lose to get him.

If the Flyers are going to look at UFA forwards, Blake Coleman is a player I would have serious interest in.

If you do something like that, it needs to be on short term deal. You might get Savard short term but I don't know about Martinez. Also have to hope that players like York and Zamula develop to take over for aging players.
